I switched to Barn Burner. Even if it's a day old, I don't care. The show seems virtually identical to when they were on 960. The chemistry is still there, only now it's uncensored. Really enjoy being able to listen to Boomer, Pinder, and Warrener again. Won't be going back to 960 any time soon.

I get that it's going to take awhile for a new pairing to gel, and it's tough for a guy to move into a new city and take the reins on a sports show, so I'm not despairing totally yet, but I haven't thought the show was good yet. Feels forced and out of sync, like everyone is in a different time zone.

The betting stuff ...sucks. But that's what's paying the bills on all these broadcasts these days. It beats ads for sofas I guess, but it's an advertisement dressed as analysis, and I'm not interested.

I don't want to hear about how some fans think the Dragon Snipers is a cool name for a line.

I am also on the Barn Burner train but I haven't even listened to the new morning show, nor will I. And it has nothing to do with the new guys, I am sure they are great. The fan 960 used to be the only choice for quality flames content, so I got used to it but radio is dead. Why would I choose more ads and more censorship at a defined/forced time? I haven't watched cable/satellite TV in years for this same reason. TV is dead, radio is dead and that's a good thing IMO.

To think a discussion about naming a line on the team is drivel to only rave about Rhett’s dopey life really is telling.

George & Matt have been great, especially their conversation yesterday with Adnan Virk. They can only get better as they probably avoid talking about their parents & family as they stick to topics relevant to the stations format.

To steer this back to more positive stuff, what a beast Pat Steinberg is, hey? Guy is on whenever anything goes down, hosts the main show for the station, works into the crazy hours after games talking to us fools and then does color the other night when Loubardias was working on the TV broadcast. Hopefully Rogers treats him well.

The difference to me is that with Barn Burner, it’s just listening to buddies having a funny conversation for an hour, are they buddies? Who cares the listener believe they are. They have stories about their kids, travel, lives off the air. . Nothing forced, natural chemistry, funny. Pinder talking about his Monday night curling is entertaining, Matt Rose talking about playing slow pitch is just…talking. Taking calls with “line name suggestions”, “hot take for the year” and suggestions for good pizza is not good radio, listener polls are not good radio, it is hack radio. There was very little discussion about last nights game this morning. Yesterday Rusic explaining buying a toaster was a terrible listen. They are a morning talk show, not morning entertainment.

pat is a good human and that's why he was kept on .. so they can work him into the ground filling three or four roles and pay one host for it . I'm very happy he got a month this summer to go travel overseas . there was no one more deserving of that time away

I actually attribute the listener polls and contests for tickets as a response to Barn Burner. It forces engagement in the moment as opposed to a listen on a podcast later. 960 has three advantages over Barn Burner: it's live radio, they have budget/capacity to get better guests, and they have access to the Flames and yet they are reacting to an upstart podcast by their former morning show personalities who they clearly could have retained had they tried (boomer, pinder & Rhett can't be making much money out of it but yet they still do a show a day, so clearly there was probably a path to keep them at 960.)

I think you’re right about the advantages, but at the same time that access to players or the Flames is kind of unimportant. First, they rarely have players on, and while they could occasionally get Treliving or Conroy those aren’t really must listen kind of events. It’s only somewhat interesting. The stories a guy like Rhett will tell about playing and dealings with other players is much more entertaining. And as far as better guests, that remains to be seen. I feel like a lot of the guests will be on Barnburner.

I can safely say I've kicked the 960 morning habit.

This gambling guy from Ontario is not my cuppa at all. We had the "NFL" discusion a while back. Just too much bet bet bet bet bet bet...

I turn back in the afternoons after about 1:00-2:00 and usually just game days.

In all fairness I used to turn the station when Rhett and Boomer were doing too many honks, horns and "toilet type humor" as well.

i think i'd rather hear more locla content, but that being said, it used to be pretty repetitive from 3 to 5
