The Falcons get pointed to a lot as to what could happen in a stadium/arena with food and drink prices....and then 99% of teams charge the maximum they can. Judging by how the Flames operate, where do you think they'll land when the new arena opens up?

Usually, they don’t trade you those for Matt Tkachuk, but this year, they did.

Now, Calgary has four top-10 picks on the roster - Huberdeau (3) Lindholm (5) Kadri (7) Hanifin (5).

Compare that to the 2012 Kings, who only had one - Kopitar/Carter (11), Richards (24) Doughty (2) Brown (13).

Now, LA did have 3rd overall pick Jack Johnson (drafted by Carolina, traded for Jeff Carter) and 5th overall pick Brayden Schenn (traded for Mike Richards).

I don’t even know where I’m going with this anymore, other than “#### does it feel good when the team matters”.

You need the right ones of course. Last year they had 5 top 10 picks and the year before they also had 5.

But they never had a top-3 pick, and it’s incredibly difficult to win without them.

LA (Doughty) Carolina (Staal) and Anaheim (Pronger) are the cap teams with the fewest top-3 picks, from what I recall.

Huberdeau/Barkov/Ekblad are obviously hits, but then Gudbranson over Fowler and Johansen in 2010… woof.

Holy smokes, the 960 morning show today.

My entire drive in talking about a nickname for the Kadri line.

Not talking about the game.

Asking callers and texters for a nickname.

Who gives a ####. This is not entertaining. Ideally I hear zero callers on my way in to work. Instead I hear 7.

This and the "this or that" segment (where I may as well be guessing a number in your head between 1-100, that's how entertaining this is) needs to stop.

About to switch to music on my ride in.

I switched to music this morning

Way to much time wasted teasing about a nickname for a line. Felt super forced and not genuine which will result in the nickname not working. Nicknames have to be organic and come from something vs being pushed on us by a new morning radio host.

Even talking about nicknames with Dave D was a repeat I think - didn't they talk to him about nicknames last week or the week before?

Not a very impressive listen this ride in.

For all that is happening in sports right now, what a waste of time rambling on about this line name, and then creating a listener poll… And yes forced is the right term and forced bits never stick. I was very optimistic about the new morning show, but man oh man it is sucking. Rose is not nearly worldly enough for this gig and Rusic going to the phones daily is amateurish.

And when the usually reliable Sam Cosintino came on it was bet bet bet bet garbage. 5 minutes is all I gave those schmucks this morning. Even Cosentino is pushing the gambling. I don't even check that often its just that I do listen in the afternoons on a game daay so the radio in the car was still on 960. Like I said 5 minutes and rightback to music.

A sign of things to come. Fan960 blows now, and I say that as someone who has given a lot of leash to the shortcomings of the show the past few years.

Better to just go on the 960 website and listen to previous shows until Boomer comes on.

I haven't listened to this morning's episode, but I have been enjoying R&R in the morning. I think Rusic has been entertaining, but also still finding his way as host. He's got a ton of potential, and am surprisingly optimistic for the show.

Yeah I think they've been fine. It's definitely a huge drop from prime Boomer/Pinder/Warrener, we were spoiled for years. They're just the cool, sarcastic guys with a great rapport, whereas Rusic is more your standard kinda nerdy AM radio personality. I'm not saying it's great, but especially given how new he is, it's better than I expected...but I was also expecting fresh out of broadcasting school with zero experience types after the trio's departure. My standards are very low ha-ha.

I certainly wouldn't go back and stream it at work like I used to with Boomer, but it's fine for my morning commute.

Are that many people listing to the drive in show looking for some in-depth analysis anyway? There is ton of Flames content already with the drive home show and all the pre-game and post-game stuff, so do we really need that much more. I honestly didn't mind the nickname segment - reminded me of when the old gang got way off topic but it was enjoyable to listen to.
