Bored suburbanites who have nothing better to do so they dedicate their lives to decorating for the seasons/holidays.
I like it because my kids enjoy it when we drive around the neighborhood and it saves me hundreds annually because I don't have to do it. Drove by a house yesterday with, I kid you not, a 12 foot tall skeleton. It was rad.

Is a decapitated head a bit TOO much for Halloween decor? Worth saying anything? I don't want to be a fuddy duddy but I feel like that may have overstepped the boundary of good taste for seasonal decorations on your front yard.

I'd tell him to take it down or it'll be his head like that hanging in your yard.

I dunno. Its fun.
I put up a few puffers every year, so I don't go all out. But my daughter and I love driving around and trying to find the most bad-ass set-up.
Not sure why we have to try and take people down for having fun with something.
(I do think some of the decorations go over the line when they are particularly graphic, that's not fun for young kids)

There are a lot of people who have seen some ####… super graphic stuff like a beheaded body is ####ed up in my opinion. But that’s because it ####s with my own trauma. Lots of people have trauma… I just don’t understand setting #### up like this at your house for a whole month. I don’t get the “fun” (specifically with super graphic displays).

Decorations are definitely getting more and more gory and realistic. Someone on my street has this super realistic witch holding a dead cat that she's about to drop into a cauldron.
I'm not surprised though, some people LOVE true crime podcasts and all these serial killer shows. I assume it's these people who take Halloween to the hardcore level. My kid is 13 so its actually great timing as he wants to go to the scariest looking houses with his buddies, but if you have a young one that's a different story.

I think it's because so many people gave up on transit. You could try that! Or you could try convincing everyone else to try it, but that might be more work.

If we could convince the City not to give up on transit, that'd be nice. The reports out of downtown dwellers of how bad the C-Train and the platforms have gotten are really disheartening, as someone who loves the downtown urban lifestyle.

It seems they’ve also cut the train schedules back during the day. You get to a platform and it says the next train is 15 minutes and the platform is already full of people.
I would also consider moving the Drop in Center out of downtown. Too many people hanging around with nothing to do. Some of these people should really be in care. The government did announce just a couple days ago around $200M for homelessness and addictions.

I agree with this. I think I'd need to see what we're talking about before I could really decide whether it's over the line.

My 12 ft skeleton is going to be giving you the middle finger.
My kids love halloween so i go out of my way to try and create one of the best displays in the neighbourhood. They will have memories from it and honestly, I enjoy doing it. Throw some nice music on and go to town creating something fun and cool for the kids.
Also, realistic decapitated head is too far IMO.

Because one is a pagan ritual meant to scare kids into behaving for free stuff, while the other is....oh, wait.

Yah, I have no issues if people want to put up decorations for a month. Some of the displays are pretty elaborate, and it'd be a waste just to have it up for a day, so I get it. I'm not a Halloween / Christmas decorations guy myself for my own house, but I do enjoy looking at other houses that do decide to go all out.

I understand them, I just cant be one of them. Honestly, in my opinion? Good for them.
Its something that they're passionate about and are willing to put the work in for. It doesnt bother me. I wish I could be that passionate about something, but I just cant.
Really, the guys who go nuts for Halloween are no different than the insane Christmas light people and I cant be one of them either. I just dont care that much.
In the past I'd paid people to put Christmas lights on my house but I dont think I've even done that in a few years. Bah humbug I say!
But if someone else wants to go and do it? Fill your boots. Its their house and their passion.
CSB, I've been walking my dog down my street, as one does and there is this massive structure this guy is building on his driveway in front of the garage.
Initially I thought it would be like some really complex shelving unit he was going to eventually move into his garage, but eventually it got too tall.
Oh yeah...its a Haunted House. It looks professionally framed (like I'd know) but it really seems like an almost permanent structure. That thing is going to be insane.
But yeah, us people who dont go in for that sort of thing have the luxury of casually enjoying the hard and passionate work of others.
So whats the problem?

Decorate all you want, but maybe do it Oct 23/24, like only a week out.
4 weeks of Halloween decorations is over the top IMO.
And Christmas......well Christmas can suck a bag of frozen donkey dongs.

IMO, it's no different than someone going all out for their mancave, wine cellar, or garage. They are passionate about what they like. I say, good on them doing something they enjoy. It's also why I don't pass judgement on folks who cosplay for conventions. They found something they are into, and just want to express it.

I’ll take Halloween nerds over the guy down my alley who puts up awesome Christmas decorations but the rest of the year he has signs pushing his anti-Trudeau messages: **** Trudeau, trucker convoy, **** Brandon and TRUMP!

Getting a lump of coal for Christmas shouldn't really scare kids, it's just delayed gratification.
37 years of coal would be mighty fine for a kettle BBQ, you could use so little.
