Video of a goal:

Good speed, controlled the pass well, and protected the puck well, scored under pressure.

Some talk about him not making the team this year (other players were expected to beat him in camp, and I guess they did obviously as he was waived):

I think he would probably be lost in the shuffle here as well. Ruzicka has posted similar numbers, but is 3 years younger and has actually played center in the NHL.

I don't think the Flames snag him, but he is definitely an interesting proposition for any team that feels they are weak and undersized in the bottom 6.

Maybe a Dwight King type of player that Darryl could use in his top 9?

Pens fans are ticked saying he played himself into a bottom six role this year.

If Eakins isn’t signed, they could use Rooney as 4th line centre, shift one of Dube or Mangiapane to RW and slot Zohorna at 3rd line lw. There’s Ruzicka to factor in too.

apparently plays all 3 forward positions . Pens fans are not happy so there could be something here

Stat line looks solid, scouting report seems good. For me, anything to shore up that 4th line depth. I was not liking the look of that 4th line at all. If you think back to the most effective 4th lines in recent times, 2018-2019 Mangiapane-Ryan-Hathaway was amazing. Or going further back to when Backlund carried Tim Jackman. it's actually good to have youth and skill. Just filling it up with 30+ year old, 13th forward quality players is not good enough

Only 14 PIMs in 51 AHL games - doesn't sound like he's a 4th line face puncher

This is a well written article on Zohorna from last year’s Penguins training camp.

No worries, he can skate.

Waiver claims are interesting. He has things going for him now to stay up with the big club if he can bring it with the Flames. What an opportunity for him.

Gotta think he is a Eakin replacement.

After the top 8:

Lucic
Lewis
Ritchie (injured)
Rooney
Eakin
Ruzicka

I would think he slots in ahead of Eakin, maybe ahead of Rooney

Did you see the over-reaction to Phillips getting send down here? Could be a big nothing too.

Still wondering about this and how he fits in? Neither of the PTOs earning a contract? A deal worked out for another forward that is going to see a bottom six forward depart? Has to be more to this.

In case anyone's wondering, he's on the second year of a two-year deal that pays him $750k/year. He'll be a UFA when this season is over.

Part of Sutter's game plan must be to have a big body in a checking role. Klapka probably needs a season in the A, despite the coach's praise.
