Toronto probably holding back on releasing the pics of McDavid in Leaf's PJ's until closer to the time, savvy move.
Did they even deserve him after 3 first overalls? Losing Mcdavid would just be the scales balancing themselves . Would also expose how poorly built the team is without him

Yes. YES! Pull out all the stops to land Pastrnak, worry about the consequences after. Time to take risks again.

If that happens, I wonder if Oilers fan boo him or cheer him during his player tribute video? McDavid's in the unique situation as a UFA where I'm certain he'll getting 32 offers all close to max term and value in order to secure his services. It will be up to him to choose which team he wants to play for.

The Oilers should be wary of nearly every team in NHL which will be pursuing McDavid in free agency. I'm sure the Leafs will make a big push but there will be several teams willing to give him the richest contract in NHL history. He will be able to pick and choose his destination. Edmonton is in a bad spot because Draisaitl will expect the richest contract in NHL history and if they don't give it to him then he walks (if he doesn't walk anyway). If he walks there's little chance McDavid stays in Edmonton without him and if they do manage to re-sign Draisaitl, there's little chance they can make McDavid the highest paid player in the league as they would likely be looking at over $30 million tied up into two players. They have three years left until the walls start crumbling.

That's $22.6M of cap opening up in Toronto.
It actually corresponds with Draisatl's contract expiring. I would expect the Leafs to be all over signing Draisatl to appease Marner in contract negotiations. McDavid's contract is up the following year which happens to correspond to Artemi Panarin's contract coming off the books with the NYR. Bank it, McDavid is going to New York.

It's Hanifin + for Pasta, no doubt. That dino trade is hilarious, as usual.

More than Hanifin (way more) would have to go to Boston who likely don't want to add salary otherwise they would probably just pay Pastrnak his raise (probably close to $10M)

So tell us what salary you'd send back - how is Pasta putting us over the top?

And he is a UFA, so assume next year is $9-10M

2nd, Lucic, and Valimaki for Pasta.

It wouldn't be Hanifin + for him. The + could be a 3rd round pick if we sign him. Toss in a good prospect like Pelleitier.

Did someone actually listen to the podcast? Is this true? I think it might be fake because I saw an Oilers troll on Twitter post the same thing except about Matthews going to the Coyotes.

Who cares? I'm not the GM, let Trevelyan sort that #### out. We have several high end defenseman and lots of defensive depth in general, so if Boston is interested, start there. Throw in Coronato if you have to. Convince them to also take Lucic as well to make it the numbers work for the rest of the year (and there was rumoured Bruins interest there in the summer anyways).

But wait, you're right, Pastrnak isn't putting us over the top. He's not a top line winger. We don't need another one of those anyways, we have Sonny Milano.
