You're 100% correct.
I definitely don't remember anyone ever complaining about bad drivers until the GDL program was put in place.

I've been telling these kids to get off my lawn, but they can't, cause the drove onto it, and now they can't figure out how to back up because they haven't passed that second test....

Yes!
Everyone knows that the worst drivers are
1) if you live in your home town, then the worst drivers are in your home town's/province's rival city/province (I, for example, know the worst drivers are in Edmonton, but also from Saskatchewan)
2) if you moved to the city you currently live in after learning how to drive, then the city you live in has the worst drivers, and your home town the best

Also the hottest women, and best beer are in the last foreign country you visited.

Total money grab. I passed when I did mine but I laughed at what they took points off for:

-Parallel parking too close to the car in front of me "cause I might have gotten stuck if somebody parked behind me" (my car has barely any front end, there was lots of room which I proved to him by not needing to back up when I left the spot but still "too close!!"...lol)
-Merging onto the highway too slowly (I get that a merge is not a yield but the guy in front of me didn't and was occupying the space required for me to get up to speed so the alternative was rear ending them but ok)

I just got mine in my mid 30’s. Advanced road test was a joke. Basically some grumpy retired man passed me but he looked like he hated his life. Basically I just gave him my money.

Is this some way of making Alberta high school students inadmissible to post grad outside of Alberta?

It was 50% when I graduated, which was only 10 years ago.

50% was absurd though.

I think that this is a good move. Kids in grade 12 this year have had no jeopardy exams for grade ten and eleven. At least this helps them ease into exams that can make or break their course mark.

Some of us had to rely on that 50% weight to pass the courses we didn’t do any assignments for during the semester.

There's reasonable academic evidence to move away from heavily weighted tests. That's actually probably something the teachers themselves asked for, so hard to get mad at that one too much.

On the other hand, it does seem like kids these days are receiving limited preparation for any sort of pressure situations they may encounter throughout their careers.

Hell, heavily weighted tests were the only reason I graduated high school. I skipped so many classes but aced the finals

100% this. I only showed up like 30% of the time to most classes but demolished exams and essays.

Bad move!

Its a good move. You do not learn how to learn propery but instead learn how to cram information in your head 2 days before a test. I had a rude awakening when i hit University let me tell you.

I prefer the 50% weighting because it helps kids prepare for what university is like. It also helps guard against grade inflation and inconsistencies in grading between different schools.

Goddamit Shandro, you ####ing useless toad. Way to give Smith precedence for ignoring federal law. These idiots are so dumb you can see the spittle rolling down their faces. How is this guy still employed?

This is a win-win for the UCP base. Either the new federal firearms policy is not enforced, or they can say "look this is why we need the Sovereignty Act and provincial police."
