the transformation of Alicent from prisoner to player was nice, hopefully it pays off. by the time we first meet Cersei, she's already a super jaded queen and capable of scheming, but very short-sighted. Sansa's turn took multiple seasons and was all over the place and only resulted in briefly crowd pleasing but shallow wins over Ramsay and Littlefinger.

I figured Ser Cristen said that the guy was going to attack the queen.

I dunno. After that display of verbal diarrhea to Queen Alicent, he strikes me as a guy who's honour makes him incapable of lying to save his life. Yet that honour doesn't stop short of beating a man to death during a royal ball...or banging his employer....man, people are complicated.

He would have a ridiculously easy time getting away with that. Firstly, the King's Guard aren't just regular knights. As long as the royal family and the rest of the King's Guard is backing them, they literally get away with murder (see the Mountain).
Secondly, the entire Velaryon family was probably looking for a way to get rid of Sir Joffrey, as he was banging the soon to be king, and would probably actively take part in making up their own lies to excuse his death, as opposed to supporting him.

She’s not wrong. I’m enjoying it for the intrigue but every episode is talk and setup 55 minutes and 5 minutes of “finish”. Not even crazy finish but a lot of “ahhhh, so that’s where they were going”.
I’m hoping the time jumping is done. It’s tougher to get invested in these characters when they change actors.

Well that was a pretty bad episode! Signs were there last episode but this took a nosedive suddenly. Hopefully they learn how to direct, edit, and write properly next week.

This is actually closest to truth
Also, every time we start hearing examples from characters like "you know when I was doing so and so, this and that happened" to try to make a point, you know its bad.

I will agree that I think the show took a dip this week. It felt really rushed. You spent the last 4 or 5 whatever it is episodes building up these relationships then we just jump forward 10 years and everyone is super bitter and angry at each other.
It felt jarring. The sequence with the kids sparring, that was super sloppy and bad. Littlefinger Jr. is just to powerful and able to spring these guys from the jail and nobody is asking any questions about where they went or what happened to their tongues?
Can they still write or draw? Probably not write, but a quick game of pictionary should I get all the details you need.
I dunno... they lost me a bit. I also much preferred the younger actress for Rhaenyra. But I do like the older actress for the queen, she was good. I'll take this one as a mulligan to progress the story more so towards the fight for the crown.
I've felt like LOTR and HOTD are battling it out each week, and last week was clear win for HOTD, but this week is a VEERRRY clear win for LOTR.

It was a bit jumpy but I was okay with it.
But I didn't get how Laena was fried. I thought Targeryons were fire immune?

I can't decide if the Rhaenyra and Alicent recastings were necessary. the real life age differences are smaller than they are on the show, and basically everyone looks the same (some good genes there Ser Criston) except of course Viserys being even more haggard. maybe if the princess and queen actually looked like teenagers to begin with like the Velaryon kids it would have made the effort worth it, but honestly they should have just done makeup or something instead.
off brand Littlefinger does have something to gain (i.e. Harrenhal) from killing his family, but I can't figure out how that helps Alicent. that's two people now dead that knew the truth for sure about Rhaenyra's kids. it made sense when Jon Arryn and Ned were put away since the Lannisters had something to hide, but I thought Alicent wants to expose them.

I don't think they all have it by default, Dany's brother definitely did not and she wasn't even surprised. kind of silly though for Laena to be calling for a dracarys as they were flying upwards if she's not fireproof.

Ah apparently Dany was special, she rolled a +3 fire immune.

I'm giving it one more episode before maybe bailing out. It seems like a lesser
GOT rehash with less compelling characters. Part of the problem there is so much content out there that it's hard to justify slogging through a mediocre show.

This show could’ve taken a lesson from This is Us - show us all these different time periods concurrently, throughout each episode. Jump back and forth. It took 20 minutes to figure out who everyone was, and then half of the new characters died in fires.
I find this story in general to be breathtakingly uninteresting.
Game of Thrones is overflowing with dynamic characters. Just in the first three episodes of season 1 alone, you have
Ned, Cat, Robert, Cersei, Arya, Jon, Robb, Theon, Sansa, Jamie, Tyrion, Varys, Littlefinger, Joffrey, the Hound, I could probably go on.
You could make an entire show about any one of these characters. Hell, I’d watch a miniseries about that short dude who taught Arya to fence.
This?
Matt Smith is great, but he’s great in everything. You don’t spend four years on the set of Doctor Who without knowing how to act around some awful writing.
They took five episodes to explain why Viserys doesn’t have an arm, why Rhaenera has an open relationship with her gay husband, and that the two most prominent blood-related Targaryens desperately want to bang.

Yeah, I don't think Dany expected to be fireproof. When she was, it gave her new resolve that it was her destiny to be queen.
Last night, when they first showed her charred remains, I was half-expecting to see the baby alive and well amongst the ashes.
