I don't hate bacon, but some of the bacon ultra recipes that end up showing up on social media look disgusting to me.

Social media: "Aha! Today we have bacon weave on this burger to make an ultimate burger!"

*Shakes an insane amount of seasoning salt on the burger resulting in complete flavor desecration, end result is burnt on outside, inside is borderline raw*

Social media: "Mmm! Delicious!"

Me: "Liar!"

If we are ranking meat (1 and 3 are kind of the same but not really):

1. Ribeye Cap (Spinalis Dorsi)
2. Brisket
3. Ribeye
4. Bacon
5. Pork ribs

Are we ranking meats solely on their cuts or is it also preparation dependent. Because you can have some great BBQ brisket, but you can also have some wack ass brisket.

If it's preparation style, then than opens up a whole plethora of cured porks and sausages that really take this list making into difficult territory.

When we were younger, one kind of something would do for all - like there was the Absolut phase for about a decade, then some whiskeys started to find their way in, then red wines and so on.. Nowadays, we are all quite a bit older and everyone drinks their preferred liquor, so we stock up. Good tequila seems to be the flavour of the day for most going at it, because it is the only liquor without any sugar in it (we like the Patron varieties). But vodka, whiskeys, wines and beers are still expected by some. I still like my Islay single malts but they are not for parties. I find Lagavulin or Bowmore hangovers twice as bad as those from tequila (or even vodka), so they are for evening sipping a little bit occasionally.

My random thought was that we have never had much of anything with alcohol left after a party. Now, there is lots, which could only mean one thing...

Yes!!! So many people don't have a thick, well-cooked pork chop at the top of their list. Totally agree with you. Also agree on ribeye being number 2 (very close number 2 for me).

Anyone know who gets traffic ticket revenue on a highway within an Indian reserve? Google is taking me to various places but I can’t find that specific fact. I think it may be split between the feds and the province but does the county get a share?

As far as I know it's the same as anywhere else. A chunk goes to the province, a chunk stays within whatever municipality the ticket was issued in

Just had a zoom meeting with someone named Negar. I never dared to say their name (I even looked up the correct pronunciation to see how much wiggle room I had: not much), but now I wonder if no one ever uses their name and if that's a bad feeling for them. Alternatively, I just passed up the opportunity to loudly say "What's up, Negar?" in an open office environment.

I make and enjoy a good pork chop, but it isn't even the best meat from that animal. It's good, and bacon is nice, but a slow smoked pork shoulder is the pork representative in the "top 5 meats".

I don't seal off single malt scotches or other nice stuff. I do limit the amount guests can have and anyone that shoots a sipper after being warned gets cut off and slapped by the crew. Life is too short to worry about the cost of stuff like this. I mean, it depends what you mean by a party. I went on a stag recently and a drunken buddy asked for their strongest shot (no 151). They gave us cask strength Lagavulin in shot glasses! (I asked the waitress what it was) Half the guys shot it and the other half sipped and tapped out. Lucky me to got 3-4 shots of Lagavulin to sip, but damn was I upset at that bartender taking advantage of my drunk buddy.

I do often like taking people "on a journey" and offering them varying flavour profiles that they can then narrow their acquisition bottles to stuff they know they like vs shooting in the dark. I've often offered to do a bottle swap with newbies if a bottle doesn't work out, but no one has really taken me up on that offer because they've been happy with what they acquired.

Oo... that's a good one. Cooked with sliced onions... nice. Agreed that very few places have it. Co-op occasionally has something close when they stock locally produced stuff, but yes, it's hard to acquire.
