Yep. Ronald Reagan, Jesse Ventura, Al Franken, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Clint Eastwood... Donald Trump. Voters sway toward the recognizable.

It's worse than that, it's sadistic and evil. These are genuinely bad people, and if the hell they believe in actually existed, that'd be their destination.

Politics by trolling is the hot thing these days.

Although if these states do need help dealing with these migrants - they should get it.

How is this person an attractive leader for you? I just don't get it. I actually don't understand how he wasn't been taken out by some crime lord years ago when he stiffed the wrong firm for payment.
Lots of people are drawn to strong-men, leaders who are full of confidence, never compromise, and promise to destroy their enemies. And this isn’t just an American thing. People in more conservative and less developed countries love a strong-man.

Per cent who have confidence in Trump to do the right thing:

I agree that if these states need help dealing with these people they should get it, but regardless of those circumstances intentionally messing around with vulnerable people in this way goes beyond just trolling. It's needlessly cruel and shows so little regard for them as people.

I wouldn't under-estimate Trumps charisma. His ability to read and work a crowd is second to none. Put Trump against someone smarter, better prepared and an expert in the subject in a public forum, and Trump is going to humiliate that person 9/10 times, because most people are garbage at public speaking but Trump has the skill set of top-tier comedian.

It's funny seeing Franken get mentioned, he was the only weapon in the democrats arsenal that could have beat Trump on his own terms. He would have been able to navigate the games and traps set by Trump, while also being a much superior politician in pretty much every aspect.

Franken was run over by an ideological bulldozer for what ultimately seemed deserving of little more than a sincere apology to anyone hurt. Sad to read about the torment and loss of identity he went through after that. He was no Cosby.

A very well-written piece in the New York Times today:

‘A Crisis Coming’: The Twin Threats to American Democracy

... American democracy is facing two distinct threats, which together represent the most serious challenge to the country’s governing ideals in decades.

The first threat is acute: a growing movement inside one of the country’s two major parties — the Republican Party — to refuse to accept defeat in an election.

...

The second threat to democracy is chronic but also growing: The power to set government policy is becoming increasingly disconnected from public opinion.

This is DeSantis' problem. He's doesn't have the charisma to make these things not come across as wildly cruel.

Psst - Trump lost the last election to someone not named Franken.

I would pay good money to be able to watch a news reel from the reality that you inhabit.

Trump fatigue, it was a long 4 years. He ran against a stump and people preferred the stump, but still by a pretty narrow margin, where the whole election still could have been turned on a seemingly small thing like media and tech conspiring to bury the Hunter Biden laptop story.

That "stump" has passed more meaningful policy in less than 2 years than Trump had passed in his entire time in office. All while battling an uncooperative legislative branch.

I'm not going to bother with the Hunter stuff because while Biden may have a single skeleton or two in his closet, Trump has a mass grave of skeletons.
