Not that I expect the Flames to have a prospect pool bursting with high end talent given where they are in their competitive cycle, but it sure looks like Wolf, Pelletier and Schwindt are NHLers. Hell, Schwindt has already played NHL games.

Thats very fair, I just dont have a HUGE hope for any of these guys working out, and more specifically being impact players. Schwindt seems to be a bottom 6 guy if he makes it, Wolf still has a long journey and I like Pelletier a lot i hope he can be a consistent contributor, after that there is A LOT of meh

I think it is an intriguing list. Wish I was going this year, but nonetheless I will definitely making time to watch the streams. Without going into a deep dive, it looks like a good chunk of the players we rated in the top 20 will be there. I think there is enough intrigue in the roster. Looks decent enough for me.

how many prospects do you think an average team has at any given time that actually work out?
There are only a few long term NHLers on any of these rosters

Ah, yes. But that's a different thing altogether.
I suspect this group doesn't look much different from most NHL teams. Teams that do have multiple high-end potential impact players are those which have been finishing low enough the past several seasons to be in positions to draft them early. The Flames are not there, so it seems to me like unrealistic expectations to hope for much better than what they are icing in this tournament this week.

The Flames' roster really can't be that sad. They have two first-round picks going, plus the reigning AHL goaltender of the year.
It cannot be overstated how terrible that Canucks roster is. Probably the worst I've ever seen at one of these tournaments.

A team is probably lucky to get a couple players in a draft year that pan out, so if you are going back three or 4 years there may only be half a dozen NHLers on these rosters per team.

Fair, ill be first to admit I am pretty down on the flames prospects cupboards. Hate constantly trading picks, I get we've had prospects like tkachuk and johnny who graduated without the AHL, would be nice to be excited for prospects like the detroit and ottawa systems. Cole Schwindt and Yan Kuznetsov doesnt do that for me.
I guess this list just doesn't excite me, Coronato (not on list) seems to have some top end potential, but I think its 50/50 we sign him, so ya I'm a bit down on the future of the team. Meddling in the middle for 20 years can damper spirit.

Why not try being excited about the CURRENT state of the team?? Things could be good the next few years..

Given how strong the Flames' NHL roster is, the state of their prospect pool is pretty impressive

You do realize what Ottawa and Detroit have had to endure in order to add multiple high-end prospects to their systems, right?

But not all prospects are on the roster either.
Coronato, Valimaki, Mackey, Ruzicka, Stromgren and Sergeev, among others, are not on the team. Probably at least as many future NHLers on this list as on the roster.
No prospect is a certainty, but the suggestion that there is probably only 1 NHLer on the squad is pretty silly

Rory Kerins was 2nd in the OHL in scoring last year. That's not interesting? Pretty decent chance he alone turns out to be an NHLer, never mind Wolf, Pelletier, Schwindt, Zary, etc.
List of players who've done that:
2020 Cole Perfetti
2019 Justin Brazeau
2018 Morgan Frost
2017 Taylor Raddysh
2016 Christian Dvorak
2015 Mitch Marner
2014 Dane Fox
2013 Charles Sarault
2012 Tyler Toffoli
2011 Jason Akeson
2010 Taylor Hall

The Flames' roster is arguably the best at this tournament.

I think this is an excellent list of prospects and is only sad if you don't really follow the Calgary prospects.
Ignoring dark horse prospects, Wolf, Pelletier, Zary, Kerins, Schwindt, and Poirier all have decent chances of making the NHL.
