No, bad teams are bad because their collection of players is bad, or doesn't work.

Flames had some bad teams when Iggy was here.

Eakin's head won't roll. His mullet will slow it down and it will just lie on the ground.

Definitely.

The thing is that sometimes alright players can get lost on lousy teams. Look at Toby Rieder. Was statistically poor with the Oilers the year before he came here, tried out and was excellent in his role for the Flames that year.

Sometimes the players bring the team down, other times it’s the team bringing the players down. Don’t know which category Eakin falls into, but that’s also why the PTO instead of a contract outright.

I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt to someone who spent the last two years with the Sabres.

If the Flames are looking for a player like Eakin isn't Victor Rask a much better option? Better defensively and in transition, I thought he always was an analytics darling. The only question is if he would like to sign here.

Doesn't he hang out with the Flames Swedish Mafia during the off season? He was at one of their weddings IIRC.

I was also thinking Rask would have been a better PTO option. I suspect Tre chose Eakin because they are looking for someone who hits like a maniac.

If the PTO goes well, and Tre offers him a contract, what does he do?

No offense I mean yhis in yhe nicest way.
But going against what you want means this guy is gold compared to the other guy. The track record of players you want is ummmm .. not so good and those you doubt beyond expectations so this is above average for a pto.

Edir: also we tried Alex chiasson so that's a solid no agian . Also just proving my point .

Solid line of thinking . Lucic, Eakins and third person ,Mayne even rooney rotating at centre?
Just a fourth line paired witha d line just expected to dump the puck in every shift andet the hits commented. No.offense just pure bombs being dropped.

Get the puck, let the d soflty put it in and let the hits commence. Decent strategy, if the isle had the core 6 we did when they had prime Martin and clutterb7ck we would have seen another ilses dynasty IMO but we sis don't because the top 6was just off elcs. Just not a experienced top 6 to work of a bottom line e to generate
Off that momentum.

6 months ago I was going to cancel my nhl subscription but tee turned it around d and I wanna see a top 9 that's fast and a fourth line that just hit and decimates.

'but he was on the sabres, he'll be better here!". Yeah and he was the WORST player on that team, and that says plenty.

I'm not gonna write some hit piece on a guy I haven't watched in years, but I would say that the game of hockey, outside of offense and points, is about getting the puck, moving the puck up the ice, and holding on to the puck. It doesn't appear Eakins excels at these areas regardless of offense.

Just so long as he doesn't try to promote it here.

Some might be overthinking this based on twitter graphics.

The bottom 50-100 players in the league are basically interchangeable and indiscernable.
Eakins is clearly in that group. Newsflash: so are Lucic Lewis and 2/3 of most teams 4th lines.
In the right situation, they can be fine. Otherwise they will probably be bad.
