OK so that was one of the best matches I've ever seen. Nearly every point was played like it was crucial. Both players with match points. High tension for like 4 hours of total match time... Incredible tennis.

I've watched a lot of tennis in my lifetime and that has to rate as one of the great ones of all time. Alcaraz looked to be done in the 4th set facing match point but found that extra energy and mental strength to will him to a 5th set and on to victory. The future of tennis is in good hands with these young and up and coming players.

I couldn't stay up to see the last two sets. I thought Alcaraz was in trouble after the 3rd set but he's a gamer so I'm not surprised he came back to take the match.

Wawrinka-Murray at the French Open a few years back. Which sadly was basically the end for both of them, neither has been close to the top since.

The ferocity of shot making on display last night was mind boggling. As others have said this was one of the greatest matches I've ever seen, it's a shame it ended at 1am here so many fans missed out.

Have to feel for Sinner, that's two straight Slams where he lost in 5 sets, he's getting closer to winning one, maybe next year.

How much will Alcaraz have left against Tiafoe and a possibly final after going close to 9 hrs in his last two matches.

Could next year be the first year since 2003 the Big 3 don't win at least two Slams?

The 2022 Aussie Open QF between Felix and Medvedev was a darn good match.

I don't remember the shotmaking being as consistently good throughout though. I mean Alcaraz was just hitting bombs for the entire 5+ hour runtime basically, and Sinner kept scraping the paint off the baseline with the ball. They both seemed to be serving well but the returning meant they kept having to play the points, so we got stuff like... well, skip to 2 minutes, that's after 5 hours? Insanity.

by the way, Rafa along with Charlie and Greek Yogurt have qualified for the ATP Finals. We might as well throw Ruud in there as well as he is a shoo-in. Felix is currently sitting in 7th place and with a strong fall season can make his first ATP Finals appearance.

I have my doubts Rafa will play the event, and does Novak automatically qualify because he won Wimbledon?

I think as long as he finishes top 20 he gets in.

I didn't see this posted, but Felix will be playing for Canada at the Davis Cup qualification next week which obviously provides a big boost to the team...

Djokovic won't be playing for Serbia either so Canada has a great chance to make it through. Spain still heavy favorites to win the group

I didn't see any of the match, but Ons Jabeur eliminating Caroline Garcia by a 6-1 6-3 scoreline is very surprising.

I just read a weird possibility... if Tiafoe beats Ruud in the final, Ruud will be world #1 despite never winning a major... or a 1000 level tournament... or even a 500 level tournament.

That's bonkers.

Sabalenka takes the opening set 6-3 over Iga with two breaks of serve.

Edit: Then Iga breaks to love to start set 2.
