Did you see Dr. Octagon when he was here last? He played broken city some months ago. Would have been cool to see. I've seen him before as kool kieth but not dr octagon...

I wonder why the show was so early tonight (7PM sharp)? Maybe the whole back to back thing eh?
But yah,
INTERPOL should be good but if it is all-ages (most likely) then there are going to be screaming teens. which gets old very fast.
Yeah, I saw the Constantines with The Weakerthans down at Mount Royal last time they were here and it was a great show. I haven't missed a Weakerthans show in forever though, they always put on a great show.

Interpol is definitely sold out. Apparently 92.9 had some sort of pre-sale deal and they ended up selling most of the tickets prior to the actual sale date. However, a few more tickets were released on Ticketmaster a couple days ago for some reason and my buddy managed to pick me one up.

I'm likely seeing them down at Coachella in 3 weeks as well but that all depends on if they're playing up against Sonic Youth or not. The show in Calgary should be fun though, I absolutely love catching shows in upstairs Mac Hall.

What am I missing about this CD that everyone else seems to love? I usually enjoy most of the critic darling/hot indie rock bands, but I just can't see any redeeming qualities in this CD. I've tried listening to it many times, but I can't even find a song that I don't find tolerable enough to listen all the way through. The songs all make me cringe and actually make me a little nauseous.

I find it strange that I am so polar opposite to everyone else (that I usually am in sync with) on this one.
I know what you mean. Could be one of these ones I need to have grow on me but I just haven't been very impressed so far. I don't think they're terrible, just very average.

The last three CDs I bought were:

Modest Mouse - We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank
Prince - 3121
Mem Shannon - I'm From Phunkville

"Average" is definitely the word I would use to describe them. Young Folks is a great song but I get extremely bored if I listen to more than one or two songs by them.

I really like them but they have a recycled sound in my opinion. Not to say that everything else in unique, but they have this fairly typical 60's pop sound. Itt is fortunate though as I happen to love that so... Young Folks is such a pop anthem...I love it.

I'm really out of the loop when it comes to concerts, I had no idea he was ever in town.

The Ballroom is pretty awesome. I saw the Sadies there, with Andre Ethier, and that guy from Blue Rodeo. Agh, I'm showing my young age here.

Anyway, amazing show.

That song "Let's Call the Whole Thing Off" from that record is not some Swedish guys, it is 54-40, I swear. Parts of that one sound exactly like them.
