Why am I not surprised a Huberdeau and Weegar signing thread turned into hating on Calgary dressing room thread just like the Kadri signing thread turned into a McWhatever thread?

Totally. He wouldn’t use his wallet. He’d use wire transfers from an account full of borrowed funds.

Nah, the video clip of Weegar walking into the dressing room for the first time blew up on social media, hence all the attention.
It’s an interesting discussion point, but nice locker room or not, the players still get treated to lavish comforts (top hotels and charter flights with all their meals catered) so it’s not like they’re suffering.

If I am being paid $10.5 mil a year to play hockey, I don't care if I have to change in my car, or in a washroom stall.

Pretty sure Weegar just has a resting Clint Eastwood face.
He says all the right/encouraging things otherwise.
Facial expressiveness is really nothing to lose your #### about. This fanbase sometimes.. We need a super duper building so people can be less insecure.

Pretty good chance we all would. 10.5 a year probably has its own problems.

I know what you mean. And it's pretty clear that you think he has that kind of money just sitting around. He hasn't.
There are only two ways Murray Edwards could pay for a new arena himself. He could mortgage everything he owns, and risk going bankrupt if the share prices of his businesses crater. That's a real danger: his net worth dropped by round about a billion dollars a few years back.
Or he could sell off his businesses, which means dumping huge blocks of stock on a market that knows he will no longer be involved in running those companies, and getting back a fraction of their current market value.
The only people in the world with the resources and liquidity to simply blow half a billion dollars on a hobby project are Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk, and they have other hobbies – such as building their own spaceships and scaring the staff of Twitter.

This isn’t the point being made. The point is - if two teams offer the same money and you think the cities are about the same and they are roughly equal in success, but one has crap facilities and the other has nice amenities, does it matter? Probably to some degree, yes.

I have it on good authority Weegar was actually very impressed with the Flames facilities (locker room probably aside). Florida doesn't have a number of amenities we have behind closed doors.

This is a straw man argument. Since I'm pretty sure none of us is being paid 10.5 million per year to play hockey, or is even capable of playing hockey at or near the NHL level, for us, of course each one of us would take that money and sacrifice certain comforts to get there... but once we're there, then, there are always tradeoffs just like for everyone else at every status and income level.
So a more appropriate question (analogy) would be, what comfort would you give up and to stay at your current level (aka gain nothing), for example, would you give up your bathroom at home for a washroom stall in a public place to do all your showering and washroom tasks - or maybe even a better analogy, would you give up your office at work to work in your car - now, some people here don't have offices or maybe even a car - so of course they might (repeating the straw man fallacy at just a lower level).
Bottom line: it's all relative.

I am curious, any idea what? Don't we have a hot tub, massage/pyhsio tables and a small workout room? What of that could Florida be missing?

I really thought we would hear about a Weegar signing this week (and maybe we will still?). I had hopes he was visiting the city to hammer home the decision to sign here long term.
Here is hoping an announcement is coming soon. What was the insider info? Weegar 7 year deal and Phil the thrill for 1 year?
