Easier to convince the public and city hall that a new arena is needed

I've been in the locker room on numerous occasions.

The Flames social media team needs their heads examined for the way this was shot. If their goal was to present an admittedly mediocre (at best) room in the worst possible light, they achieved it.

That being said, the room (and surrounding areas) is bigger than the video makes it seem. It's also much nicer. Probably the worst thing about it is the smell.

It is likely one of the worst ones in the league but a lot of the criticism is hugely exaggerated. Welcome to the internet, Flames social/marketing team.

As someone else mentioned, I have no doubt this will be a net positive to the movement towards getting a new arena finalized in Calgary. Rich owners don't like to be teased and civic pride will want to answer. I hope?

It's August. This may register with a handful of hockey die hards. Doubt it leaves a lasting impression with the city or the team. If either party isn't at peak motivation to get a deal done already, that would be unfortunate.

This all boils down to having dimmable + LED lighting so the room looks good in photos. In reality they all look and smell about the same under the operational fluorescent lights.

I'll do a go fund me for 250 car air fresheners and 50 bottle of Febreze.

Its crazy how the salary of a 4th liner would pay for a complete modernization and a good interior designer but they haven't changed the room since the 80s aside from some paint and a logo on the ceiling. Knock out some of the space next door, make everything bigger.

I get the sense, they stopped investing in it because of the plans for the new arena but now that that is up in limbo, what can be done?

I like Seattle's. The whole Climate Pledge Arena is crazy cool because it's the bones of a 1960s arena that they dug out the basement of and its almost all underground. When you go down the escalators it feels like you are going under water.

Flames dressing room now looks nothing like it did in the 80s, not close.

Yeah but it's still dated as crap. Painted over cinder blocks... fluorescent lighting... ikea particle board stalls.. This is the type of dressing room you give to the visitors and you turn up the smell.

I'm pretty sure the Stampeders' dressing room is better than this.

Maybe Murray Edwards should get off his wallet and build himself a building.

The only thing remaining from the original Seattle Center arena is the roof.

They built a completely new building under it (and spent $1.15 billion to do it).

Yup, there it is. The poster who thinks a billionaire is somebody with a billion dollars in ready cash in his wallet, and feels entitled to tell him how to spend it.

Isn't it the exact same room/cinderblocks/layout? I can't find any other pics but it seems like the only difference was different stalls and they had a carpet.

I'm also mixing up my memories from the 1989 win where they were drinking from the cup but that was in the Montreal Forum visitors room which was the same cinderblock design.

Look at them shoulder pads above his right arm. They look like football shoulder pads dayum.

I wear those flimsy Sherwood pads.

I liked the arena but to me it looked and felt like an old arena from outside and in the concourse (which it really is) the that actual arena was great especially with the glass on the one side as we saw the Flames in the late afternoon game when sunlight was present.
