No, it's just a spectacular location that happens to have a city in it.

Interpret that how you want. All I mean is that the beauty of Vancouver owes very little to architects or urban planners, and nearly everything to nature. Paris and Venice, and for that matter Quebec (if you want a Canadian example), are spectacular cities. Vancouver is a city with a spectacular backdrop. There's a difference. It's not a knock against the city or the people, just a difference in where the beauty came from.

Well, I disagree. It looks beautiful in so many areas and the architecture has a lot to do with it, not just the scenery around it. Different standards, I guess.

Here's 10 College Dressing rooms that are seemingly better:
https://howieshockeytape.ca/blogs/ho...y-locker-rooms

We also saw more behind the scenes in the Dome from the Zadorov Russian video. Parts of it really looked like 50 years old, dark, and depressing.

Flames room looks like Tampa and Washington

lucky for us LED lights don't make a team play better

This.

The facilities are definitely a factor (obviously more for some than others), but it isn't just the room - the rooms are mostly the same - it's about the rest of the facilities: weight room, shower area, lounges, etc.

The players spend several hours a day there - it matters.

Why do you spend more money for a nicer hotel? Because the room and the facilities are nicer.

The only issue with the dressing room is the size (both square footage and ceiling height). You can put plenty of lipstick on that pig (LED lights?!?) but its otherwise not much different than other dressing rooms -- it's not like a NFL locker room or MLB clubhouse where you would throw lounge chairs in there or a bunch of big screen TVs. I think NHL locker rooms are more utilitarian -- you need the ability to dry a bunch of sweaty, stinky hockey gear first and foremost (which is why the "stalls" themselves are all pretty basic).

I agree the other facilities could be another story though.

We know how well that worked out for them.
I did a tour of Rogers Arena (aka GM place) in 2014; the "home" locker room was closed but we did get to see the visitor's locker room (including the infamous "Tortorella hallway" and the walkway between the two locker rooms).

The funniest thing was the old NBA locker room, which had comically large locker stalls and shower heads that were like 9 feet high. Makes sense but I can't imagine a guy like Muggsy Bogues using those facilities.

If you visited the old Kingdome, Olympic Stadium in Montreal and then the Saddledome it could have been like a Final Destination tour of sports buildings. Dodging death at every stop.

I have been to all three, and boy is this an accurate statement. And the Saddledome is by far the best.

That DU locker room is nice.

Too nice for a bunch of sweaty hockey players probably.

You really need the Astrodome for the grand slam.

What about the stadium in MTL where the Als played? Didn't parts of it actually collapse or something?

Edit: lol whoops. I guess that's the Olympic Stadium that's already been mentioned there times on this page alone.

you can say this about Calgary, too.

Think otherwise all you want, but other than location Calgary is no different than Edmonton and Winnipeg.

Another take on the locker room

https://twitter.com/user/status/1562070394990911489

It does put the team's intentions this year and the next few into focus: are you here to spend time in a lavish clubhouse, or to win hockey games?

that dressing room is an embarrassment. full stop. does not belong in an NHL building. 15 years ago.

does it matter? probably not.

It's still pretty stupid. Your payroll is $85mil US! Whats spending $50k to repaint, add some fake wood and LED lights?

makes no sense.

Win a cup and they'll get a new dressing room.
