Whitney has had a massive audience for a long time. He used to rag on Edmonton and the Oilers all the time in the early chiclets days.
This Biz and Whit Battle of Alberta stuff is just them acting to get more engagement on social media for their podcast and fans keep falling for it

The Saddledome has netting installed to catch chunks of concrete falling off.
Dressing room is the least of its problems and hard to justify investing more money into the building.

Yeah I thought I remembered that! Didn't he have mostly negative thoughts on his overall stint there as well? I was surprised when he suddenly seemed like a huge Oilers guy in recent years.
And more like the Flames got McDavided...but Whitney can go back to not caring about them in 4 years when Connor's back East.

Well hopefully it gets to Murray and Co's eyes and they feel the embarrassment.
The continual putting off of this thing is ridiculous.

I don't blame anyone for putting off the arena project when the price of structural steel tripled almost overnight. The optics were ridiculous. The problem is real.

I remember during the lead-up to the 2010 Olympics, the Canucks spent millions upgrading all their facilities and the dressing room at GM Place because all the Team Canada players who used the room during the Olympics were going to be so impressed, that they'd all be clamoring to sign with the Canucks when they hit free agency.
We know how well that worked out for them.

I never said it’s a deal breaker. It’s down the list of factors. But it makes an impression if two teams are close in the offers, I bet. This is where they hang out every work day.
I don’t think it’s so much the aesthetics as the amenities, however. Nice showers, nice workout room, good air.

I find Vancouver to be a very ordinary-looking city that just happens to be plunked down in a spectacular natural setting.

Yes, and that's why THEY put it off, not the stupid narrative that the city was looking to get out of the deal.

Well somebody posted a ton of locker rooms that look more or less the same
Washington and Tampa...they have done alright
I'm all for a new arena don't get me wrong but its being a little overblown as far as the players facilities go

The city picked the absolute worst time to insist on items that would add to the cost.
City council, like a number of CP posters, seems to hold the belief that a billionaire is someone who has a billion dollars in ready cash burning a hole in his pocket, and should spend it on whatever they want. None of this even begins to resemble the truth.

Which still makes it a spectacular city. Man, Canadians dumping on each other's cities across this beautiful country is such a gear grinder for me, and so common.
It's a dream to live here when you factor everything in, and there's so much beauty, and it's like we trip over ourselves trying to knock everywhere around us down. So stupid.

Oh man, the Flames wanted out and would have got out regardless. It made zero sense for them to proceed with 2.5-3x cost on everything during Covid. They got out, and it wasn't because of a few million in cost overruns that city decided to enforce, lol.

All very true. And yet, Edmonton and Winnipeg are still subpar.
Vancouver is a stunning place, but I more and more get the impression the people residing there are largely of the No Good variety from accounts of friends living there.
Kelowna and Vancouver both appear to have this issue. Nice location, but full of knobs. It's really too bad. Can't nice places have nice people?
