If Breaking Bad taught me anything it's that Huberdeau's signing bonus would require a much, much bigger suitcase.

Unless it is being paid out in T-bills?

I’m pretty stoked to have him here, seems genuinely happy to be here. This will be some season like we weren’t expecting. I think it’s exciting that Huberdeau is here because with Tkachuk and Gaudreau you knew they were good but there just seemed to be a limit as to their ceiling, I don’t think that’s the case with Huberdeau. Flames have a winner here.

For me, seeing Huberdeau sign here 8 years without playing a game with the team and hearing him talk about "you want to play for a team that wants you" this guy is motivated as hell. There is no way I expect to see a player regress significantly this year with that kind of chip on his shoulder. Some players take this kind of thing to heart, others don't. Huberdeau seems like a competitor and has something to prove despite putting up 115 points last year.

exactly, If I were him I would want to show up Tkachuk and Gaudreau along with Florida.

At the end of the day? If you're a star player and play your cards right you can have both.

A team that wants you and a giant payday.

When you are offered a mega contract with the vast majority of money paid in bonus structure, there is no game to play.

Huberdeau knew the Flames needed to pony up to sign him.

And good for the Flames understanding their relative lack of leverage in needing to get a deal done and not playing hardball.

I agree. Basically they scratched Gaudreau’s name off their last offer and penciled in Huberdeau. There was no way he was signing for a penny less or any worse structure in my opinion. There also was not going to be a team that would beat the $84M the Flames offered.

The Flames needed this for the fanbase after having their 2 franchise players decide to move on after their best season since 89 and their second series win since 04. It worked out for both sides but the Flames did pay a premium to make it happen

I'd rather Hubey than Gaudreau. Beyond glad this shook out the way it did.

Now we just need to get that Chucky replacement. What else ya got Tree! SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT!

That pic just looks weird. It's like an 8x8 office cubicle, with a desk you'd buy at a used school supplies sale. I doubt very much that is Huberdeau's place, more likely they threw that frame up on a wall for this pic

(not trying to say his enthusiasm isn't genuine, just a weird pic)

It’s an old school briefcase as well. I suspect it’s a small spare office at his lawyer or agent’s workplace (or a contact of theirs they use wherever Huberdeau happens to be now).

Lol honestly who cares. It could be his parents old basement office for all we know.

I just noticed the small picture at the bottom of the frame. I had completely forgotten that Huberdeau was a Calder Trophy winner.

Calder trophy winner, and led the sea dogs to the memorial cup! Where he was also tournament MVP.

Huberdeau is a winner.

The Bath Salts were strong that day my friends! And a Floridaman emerged!
