I might be reading too much into this news, but given this is the thread we over analysis a players Instagram or twitter profiles I think that is fair game
I don't take the agent publicly posting the meeting as good news at all. If an agent respected the GM and the client/player seemed like it was very likely they would sign, why post anything at all prior to signing? Get your huge contract and then post a tweet about how much respect you had towards the GM for supporting the "process" and flying out to meet your client.
However, if things aren't going great and you respect your counterpart GM or simply see the value in maintaining good relationships... you post to let them save face if things don't develop.
Again... super reading WAY too much into this tweet. But this is a hockey forum in August.

Alan Walsh doesn't seem like a complicated guy. If his player's unhappy, he tweets about it. If his player is happy, he tweets about it. I think Huberdeau is probably just happy to have a team and GM want him, and Walsh just figured he would tweet about it.

Because Walsh’s take of 8X$10.5M is $8.4M.?

I think most agents are in the 3-5% range. So divide that by 2 or 3.

Don't underestimate the power of spite towards the previous team. No question Huberdeau feels it and Walsh is a vessel for it. Last guy didn't even pick up the phone, this guy's flying across the country for dinner. I think the way this went down and Huberdeau's feelings towards his old team is a huge motivator to make things work in Calgary.

Last time I heard that name was when Bill Peters was playing games with Michael Frolik's ice time.
3M line was great that year and Peters wouldn't play Frolik with the other two, then Walsh piped up about it. All that to get Austin Czarnik into the lineup.

If agree - it's a strange thing to advertise this dinner and talk about how well it went on social media.

Yup, he doesn't do anything by accident...

Could be Walsh trying to raise expectations in the fanbase to give him a bit more leverage in negotiations. Somehow I doubt the agent is just tweeting happy things for fun. Bright side is he wouldn't bother doing that if there was no chance of Huberdeau signing.

I read that as more of a shot at the FLA management. They couldn’t even give him the courtesy of a call, but Treliving flies across the country for dinner.

Interesting theory. A bit petty though, no? What's to gain from firing shots at Zito when you'll have clients who will play there some day?

He's sticking up for the hand that feeds. How is it any different than what he did with Fleury/Vegas.

Seems like solid publicity for his client's new fanbase by making it at least seem like he's interested in staying. Which also now puts the ball back in Treliving's court to get something done without giving the Flames the "woe is us, no one wants to sign here" argument if they don't get something done.
Don't really see a downside from Huberdeau's position and I doubt it leads to Walsh being blackballed from the Panthers in the future lol.

It makes sense for all parties to try and get deals done asap. Huberdeau and Weegar likely want long term security asap while the Flames want to secure the 2 key pieces they got in return for a player who they wanted to make one of their franchise cornerstones.
While both deals may age poorly this team is really trying to win in the Sutter window which could be 1-5 more years. Last night was likely a good step in the right direction. Next they need to bring the boys to Calgary and swing them out to Banff for a quick visit and wine and dine them here with contract offers coming shortly after.
I feel more confident these guys will sign compared to Johnny and Chucky
