Not a Dater fan (he got fired for behaviour at Denver Post yrs back), but he's confirming fwiw.
Didn't realize Mark Seidel was working for Barrie Colts now (never really trusted his "North American Central Scouting" operation - thought he was purposely making it confusing with NHL Central Scouting. I once asked him who else worked with him and he proved elusive in answering...

Stastny would be a good stop-gap signing. I get Gelinas vibes from him.
I wonder what kind of contract and term he expects. He has been really consistent and productive for a player his age.

Agreed - seems like it would be hard to get into too much financial difficulty signing Stastny.

From that article

However, according to one NHL source Sunday night, Flames general manager Brad Treliving could be willing to eat some of that cap hit if the Bruins sweetened the deal and he doesn’t get whacked on contracts for forward Andrew Mangiapane and defenseman Oliver Kylington, two RFA’s headed for arbitration.
“Depending on what happens with those guys – and if [Darryl] Sutter lets him go because he loves him – I think Brad is willing to get creative with ‘Looch’, the source told Boston Hockey Now.
|
Bruins have $4.7 million in cap space with Bergeron, Krejci, and Zacha still needing contracts. They would have to add a really nice sweetener to add Lucic and still make the cap work.

Doubtful Debrusk gets traded now. The trade request has been rescinded and they re-signed him. Hes certainly not getting traded for Lucic.
If the source is Jimmy Murphy, its not a real source. That guy knows about as much aa you or I.
Youd most likely be looking at Craig Smith coming back or something. The Bruins have no space, no picks and their pipeline is garbage.

Craig Smith is significantly better than Lucic at both ends of the ice, so I'd be super down for that.

I too like the idea of extracting Debrusk from Boston.

Debrusk rescinded his trade request when Cassidy was fired so it is clear it was about the coach. With that said most players that publicly request a trade get dealt eventually. Lucic can’t be the main piece going back either. I think Debrusk would be a nice add to the team

I wonder if Garland would be a good fit on the Flames for someone like Kylington.

Or JT Miller who sounds like he wants out of there.

Re: Kadri and the Islanders
I was thinking that one of the reasons for not officially registering the deal yet is to not create a cap situation where it becomes tempting for another team to offer sheet Dobson. If word gets out that they are sitting on a Kadri contract, someone should totally do that.

If the Flames can trade Kylington + Zary for Konecny
Then, I think they should sign PK Subban for a cheap 1-year deal.

Taking a while to get to 5000

IMO, if they can move Lucic's salary without bringing anything back and then have that space to make a hockey trade for a top 6 RW, that's a win.
