Now, I admit I don't know much about City tax policy, and perhaps this post shows that. But don't private golf courses get taxed at a rate way less then what undeveloped land would in the same area, essentially subsidizing a rich persons game?

I don't think it would be a lower rate. Possibly a lower value. But they should be assessed at a value they would likely sell for.

I believe BC does do property taxes at "highest and best use", with the exception of agricultural land (which instead has restrictions that it must actually be used for agriculture).

I’m biased, but I’ll never understand the attack on golf courses.

It's almost worth another thread because this could derail this one quickly.
I don't hate golf courses but inner-city, private courses should be taxed as if they're residential land. It's a lot of prime land that excludes a lot of citizens from using it.

There are no privately owned public golf courses in Vancouver

I don't blame Rogan at all for something like this, there are unstable people out there, but to suggest he has zero influence is silly. He does.
Him saying that a week ago, then it happening this week is an interesting thought. Maybe they are unrelated, but I find it odd to get so defensive about it.

To be fair Rogan also latches onto existing trends.
Rogan didn't come up with the idea of bulletpoof coffee or the paleo/carnivore diet. These were big things, and Rogan put out videos to profit from them.

So, the guy shot people at 4 different locations around Langley. First person shot at midnight and last shot around 6AM. Two dead, two injured, and the shooter shot dead by the police. The guy was 28 years old and seemed to be having some mental/social issues by the reports of his neighbours.
Crazy that he was going around Langley for almost six hours after shooting the first person. Scary situation.

I never said he created them. He pushed them and his dopey followers ate it up because he has no influence .
I listened to every one of podcast for years, but I stopped when I noticed several friends doing this stuff. I always brushed him off as just a subpar comedian with some interesting guests, but it got to be too much and I just couldn't listen to his stupidity anymore.

Same here.
A sign of society these days when a comedian/jock becomes such a strong influence just because of their fame.
Kind of a strange power he possesses now and in fairness to him, he didn't look for.
