The Flames posted some Weegar highlights and he posted a reply:
Hadn't updated his bio, but hopefully he's excited about the opportunity.

I’m not mad at him, I freely grant him or anyone their freedom of speech and his hockey accomplishments stand on their own. I was just making the distinction between conspiracy theories and political views. Conspiracy theories do not constitute political views in the same way they don’t constitute science. They fit under freedom of speech, but not under science or political views.

Kind of want Hanifin traded now just for how many times I’ve had to read his name misspelled here.

The Panthers Facebook "Thank you Huberdeau" post just came across my feed. They are not happy!
Tkachuk could end up a Gary Leeman if he doesn't perform.

Lol Tkachuk could never be Leeman who became a single digit scorer right after the trade

He's gonna get soured on big time then. Wait till playoffs IF they even make it.
Trades like this some times create quite a divide in the room and Matthew just LOVES attention and the need for drama.
Just glad he's gone . No more antics

Walsh is correct in asserting that there are tax-deferral methods available to high net worth employees in this case, what he neglects to mention is the costs involved in those methods. They are complex and expensive to establish and furthermore to defer that tax one also needs to defer the income.
So if you want the house, cars, jewelry, etc. you're going to need your money so it isnt as simple as just getting all your pay and smoothing out your tax liability over time, there are opportunity costs as well.
So yeah, lower tax jurisdictions are certainly going to have an advantage.

He's going to be competing for attention with Kodak Black and that man puts on a show...

Hit the nail right on the head. I was going to post about RCAs and wasn’t sure I should detail the thread. Truth is, they make some sense, but you’re not absolved from the taxes. It’s a deferral of the tax, which is good, but I’m not sure that it all equals out.

This isn't about taxes. The bottom line is that it is cold af in places like Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Calgary. Why would anyone want to play there when you could make the same money in a place like Florida or California?

I’m far from a high net worth individual and taxes are my biggest expense by far.
There’s also a commonplace mindset that taxes are undeserved, and some people put a *lot* of effort into paying less of them.

I don’t think there is an American equivalent of a RCA though (in terms of how much you can put in the tax deferral account). If you are doing tax planning for an individual who is going to make 99% of their income before age 35 and expects to live to their 80’s and needs to retain a certain lifestyle for the 45+ years they are not making good money it is a pretty good vehicle. If you make 50 million Canadian, you could amortize that to 600K Canadian a year over 60 years you could get your income tax down to about 40% a year, which would be comparable with US jurisdictions (assuming they do not have a similar vehicle to a RCA).

I've always thought that the 'weather' excuse is lame, and one of the most annoying arguments in pro sports. I understand players can play anywhere, and that's totally fine, that's their right; but northern climates aren't the hell that people constantly make them out to be.
