Already been “loosely” reported that Kadri turned down the flames again after speaking to Calgary.
Wether it was money or term or fit, didn’t say.
Also before the trade, so Huberdeau as a line mate could change opinions.

Beyond the big names, there is some good value on the UFA market at forward. I like Sonny Milano at LW, Ryan Donato at C and Evan Rodrigues at RW.

I think Sutter would hate Milano. There's offensive talent there, but he has no 200 ft game whatsoever. Wouldn't be a good fit, I think.
I'd be fine with Donato or Rodrigues.

I’d like to see lucic and monahan gone though if we pick up some of these guys. Guys like Pelletier Ruzicka or Phillips need to play. I’d like at least 2 of them get a chance

I think BT turns to his internal "to do" items now:
Mangipane - $4-5.5 on a long term deal
Kylington - $2-3 on a long term deal
Ruzicka - $750 - 900 on a short deal
Pospisil - min deal
See what the two new guys are looking for....
Plus he'll have to think about what happens with some d-men - 10 on the roster right now. I don't think Valimaki or Mackay clear waivers. Will Gilbert or Meloche clear?
I think BT is done on the FA market until Sept.

every team has a Gilbert and a Meloche. I doubt that'll be an issue. I'd have Mackey as the #7 and try to include Valimaki in a package for a forward.

That’s a fair point. Something tells me Weegar knows he’s highly valued around the league and will possibly test free agency. Huberdeau on the other hand… I am 50/50. If he doesn’t want to extend here, I absolutely want to retain 50% and grab a **** ton for him.

I think you nailed it. The Tkachuk trade could net us 3 1st rd picks++++ if these guys won't sign and we retain. Possibly late 1sts, but if 2 of them are in 2023 this may be a quick retool with the talent in this draft. Especially if we make other moves at the deadline. Maybe even 4 1sts in this draft.

The cap space the Flames have will pretty much evaporate once they sign Mangiapane, Kylington, and Ruzicka. Just shows how hard it was going to be to keep both Gaudreau and Tkachuck.

If Kylington is going to cost that much, he should be on the trade block. That’s a bit much for him IMO. Especially for the role he plays. He is a 3rd pairing guy, who doesn’t play on either special teams.
I would move him for a forward, and keep Valimaki and Mackey up with the big club. They have more upside IMO.

Amazing how many here posting ideas don't get that.
Mangiapane will get over $6M maybe 7M depends how long they sign him for.
Kjillington will be more than Valimaki's bridge likely about $2.5-$2.75
Will need 2-3M for the AHL guys coming up OR a couple more filler free agents.
When the dust settles they only have 1.5 -2.5M to the cap with just one variable:
Monahan
He IS on the cap now as calculated so thereis $6.375M maybe.
He may be ready to play opening day? Who knows?
He may stay on LTIR and return midseason?
Can Treliving "spend" a bit based on Monahan's return schedule?
We'll find out becuase even Francis doesn't know when Monahan's returning.

If Eatbread costs you $6-7MM you package him up and ship him elsewhere. I am a very big Mangiapane fan but that is just too much for him. He is very streaky and I think could come back down to earth and be a 20-25 goal guy (which don’t get me wrong isn’t a bad thing).
Kylington shouldn’t get more than $2-2.25MM or he can go. I like the skill set but there is a block there that will always lead to many really poor defensive decisions.

People are forgetting Mangiapane didn’t get enough ice time. Wasn’t even on PP1 either and still scored 35 goals. I disagree he would come back down to earth. He plays more of a Sutter-style game than any of our other wingers.
I want him to get a 6 x 6 from us. He knows what he’s worth. BT can’t play around with his deal for a 3rd time.

I still really like the idea of moving Hanifin. Could there be a deal to the Devils around Mercer + Ryan Graves? Calgary probably needs to add a pick

that's why I always figured that re-signing both Gaudreau and Tkachuk would have probably meant trading Mangiapane. Re-signing all of them would have been nearly impossible, unless you somehow find a way to get rid of both Lucic and Monahan.
bringing in Huberdeau and Weegar for pretty much Tkachuk's cap hit has certainly helped, but things are still tight. At least we can re-sign all the RFAs and still have some wiggle room left.

They’ve had a chance since the Flames signed them to contracts. If they get spots on the roster it will be by beating someone else for the job.
If that happens Flames can move extra pieces after camp or early in the season.

Kylington will get at least 4M a year, and if Treliving is proactive, he will make it an eight year deal.

Yes, the Flames are going to be tight to the cap. But they are missing a top-9 forward, preferably a RW, after re-signing Mangiapane. I guess the Flames could fill the open position internally with Ruzicka or Pelletier, but I think the UFA market is good to consider.
LW - 3
-Huberdeau (1 * 5.9)
-Mangiapane (RFA)
-Dube (2 * 2.3)
-Lucic (1 * 5.25) (NMC) (M-NTC, 10-team T list)
C - 4
-Lindholm (2 * 4.85)
-Backlund (2 * 5.35) (M-NTC, 10-team T list)
-Monahan (1 * 6.375) (M-NTC, 10-team NT list)
-Rooney (2 * 1.3)
RW - 3
-Toffoli (2 * 4.25)
-Coleman (5 * 4.90) (NTC, 24/25-26/27: 10-team T list)
-Lewis (1 * 0.8)
As for their internal business, I don’t think anything’s as important as figuring out whether Huberdeau and/or Weegar will re-sign or be traded. But I agree that Mangiapane and Kylington need to be re-signed.
