Any rumors on Nino. He's streaky as hell but an interesting option out there.

Yeah, I am surprised he hasn't signed yet. Maybe he has deal in place with a team already as is waiting on cap?

The rumor on him is just like Kadri. Kadri's odds on re-signing in Colorado are above 80 percent and he is just waiting for them to clear room. Same rumor is that for Nino. Looking for Carolina to finish moves and then to re-sign there.

Imagine being the fan of a good team that has its free agents sit around waiting for your GM to clear some cap space so that they can re-sign.
And they sign at a discount so they can be fit in.

Didn't expect Kadri or Klingberg to take this long. Now that a lot of teams are securing their younger players to long term deals, a lot of teams simply don't have the cap space to hand out big payday's to late 20/early 30's players.

Get a solid return for Tkachuk, bring in Kessel
could end up with some enviable depth and with Sutter at the helm we could still compete for the division IMO.

Does Kessel seem like a guy who Sutter could squeeze more out of at this stage in his career?

They won't do it in most cases lol but what if we used the cap space to offer them AAVs they couldn't refuse and retain 50% at the deadline?
Kadri wants to win, so tell him we'll trade him to a contender.
And two 1sts to our basket.

While Kadri is the obvious desirable get (if something reasonable in terms of contract), how would we feel if Tre signed FAs Sonny Milano and Evan Rodrigues to round out the forward group?

Forgot Rodrigues was out there - he'd be a really nice add. I bet he's looking for a higher chance of more TOI though if he's taking a 1 yr show-me contract.
He was a capable 3rd banana with Crosby/Guentzel, and he could be used the same way here, though I'd look at:
Huberdeau-Lindholm-Toffoli*
Mangi-Backlund-Coleman
Pelletier-Monahan-Rodriguez*
Rooney-Ruzicka-Lewis
Lucic/Dube/Zary
Still too many F's and too many D...I think the better hope to upgrade would be a trade, though I'm not sure who wants a pu pu platter right now?
Don't think Milano is a great fit here.

I wonder if we could get Stastny on a 2 year deal or something would be the perfect 2/3 center.

And what happened to Subban?
I realize his play has declined but hes still a serviceable D, no?
Is he simply pricing himself out of the market??
