Also who was the poster saying sign and trades never happen? Pretty sure Enoch Root was banging that drum all last week and talking down to posters suggesting it. How the turntables, numb nuts.

It is my understanding Huberdeau waived his ntc to go to Calgary, so implies to me he is interested in signing long term here and am sure Treliving provided assurances on this as well.

Tre likely listening to offers to have a contingency plan in place should they not want to re-sign here. Here's hoping they do.

1. Coming off career high season - though his previous 3 were also excellent, it would be nearly impossible for his stock to get higher.
2. He just saw Johnny's UFA experience play out...
3. Right now he's 29. By the time UFA rolls around he'll be 30, which may influence consumer (GM) perception
4. Take the money. Ask out later if necessary.

You can be sure that Treliving had or will be talking with Huberdeau about an extension.
I think there's zero chance they let him walk to free agency like Gaudreau. And Weegar as well.
Exploring trade options as well as what it would take for Huberdeau/Weegar to sign long terms is the agenda for the next couple of weeks.
Letting two MVP players walk to UFA without getting anything is not going to happen
