that's actually...a decent top six
Kadri might consider Calgary now too.

They're suddenly a Nazem away from being a highly competitive team.

Not saying they should. But the option is there, possibly.

The forward group is…well I dunno what to make of it. You could argue they’re missing an entire second line. You could argue they’re missing depth. Lots of “ifs”. If Mangy becomes a first liner, if Toffoli/Coleman can step up. If Pelletier can make the jump.

Big ‘meh’ tho. Any forward group with Monahan/Ruzicka/Rooney pencilled into the bottom two C spots is prolly in trouble.
I think Monahan may surprise people. So might Pelletier. And Ruzicka looks pretty good to me in a bottome six role.

Look, they lost Gaudreau and Tkachuk. This is probably as good a lineup as you could ice after that, considering the other trade proposals. Huberdeau versus Bratt/Robertson/Hintz/Kyrou? The lineup looks way worse.

Huberdeau is a playmaker and a finisher, can elevate the puck in tight and appears to have eyes in the back of his head at times. He and Lindy should be quite the combo.

Weegar replaces prime Gio…that’s how good he can be. Especially once Sutter gets his hands on him.

This is such a lopsided win and the entire hockey world knows it

anyone complaining has me seriously doubting their affiliation to the Flames

Honestly? In for a penny, in for a pound. Bring on Kadri and there’s an argument to be made we are better suited to Sutter style hockey than last year’s team.

Don’t forget how tiny Gaudreau was. As good as Guby is, he’s also a a bigger body and can power through more then Johnny could ever hope too.

Plus Gaudreau is going to fall off now he signed his retirement contract.

Tanev and Weegar might be a huge centrepiece of a Sutter team.

Remove Huberdeau and that’s what we would have expected with maybe a blue chip prospect added. This is just amazing.

If Tkachuk was begging to stay at 8x9.5 I would still make this trade

The value is amazing but this is a win now move and I don't think the Flames currently have the pieces to win now. If Gaudreau would have signed it would be a different story but the top 6 still doesn't look great. Maybe another move can change that. Maybe Monahan returning to form can help change that.

How can you not like this? Nutty.

So many ways the Flames can go with this, but they asset managed the HECK out of this. That was the most important thing.
AGREE 100%

Huberdeau's ability to make other players better around him..100% true and his skills are high end. Chucky brings other things but does not make others around him better and relied on lindy and johnny for points.

If he resigns - he should age well.. GO FLAMES
