Personally I hope the trade is to the Rangers centric around Chytil & K. Miller. Both young good players with room to grow in two key positions you want to build around and we are weak in terms of prospect depth.

Plenty could’ve been done. He could’ve tried signing Gaudreau to a 7 or 8 year deal instead of only 6. Ditto for Tkachuk. He could’ve tried harder extending Gaudreau and Tkachuk last offseason. Remember, that disastrous 2021 season prompted Tkachuk to request a trade, so that really set the tone for this offseason.

Obviously there’s a ton of hindsight involved in all of these decisions and etc. But the main point I’m trying to make here is that all the decisions “yesterday”, ultimately affects how things play out today. Brad Treliving has a ton of blood on his hands and I think its too easy to just say there’s nothing he could’ve done.

Ah, I missed Robertson lingering as an RFA there. So they have the pieces to make the trade, and might be the best partner, but need to unload some cap to facilitate. Perhaps Arizona could be talked into three years on Benn if the Dallas first came along with it? Only 14M in real money left, but Benn has a full NMC.

Johnson (top point getter in the OHL D+1), Stankoven (third in points in the WHL D+1) and Gurianov (toolsy, just had a disappointing season, but bounceback candidate) is still the best potential offer out there.

I meant that in regards to the entire core of the team wanting out.. may as well just move the entire team at this point.

You have:

-A horrible owner (Murray Edwards HAS to sell The Flames, he has wanted to for a while folks - don't ask me to cite a damn thing because I'm not going to)
-A horrible arena (No chance a new one is built within the next 10 years)
-Players who don't want to be there (See this thread)

The only good thing going on in Calgary is Darryl Sutter's existence. Darryl will keep that team a playoff team and from there, anything can happen.

If Darryl resigns or something weird, then it's Yikes time
