I actually feel shell shocked, and i can't imagine how Brad feels. I have to make plenty of decisions in the heat of the moment, that are only scrutinized by my bosses. Brad's job seems a hell of a lot worse, and I'm sure he's aging tremendously through this process.

Honestly, I really don't mind this at all. The team was fun last year, but it is hard not to think that the structure of the core, with the bulk of the talent being wingers, was flawed.

This provides a great opportunity to restructure the team.

And Tkachuk is being professional about it, which is helpful and appreciated.

Top contracts last year:

1) Tkachuk: $7M
2) Gaudreau: $6.75M
3) Monahan: $6.375M
6) Lucic: $5.25M

That's $13.75M freed up this year, and $11.625M next year. Plus, Giordano's $6.75M came off last year.

Obviously, losing players is not good. But the upside is that the Flames are a blank canvas at this point. And they have a ton of valuable assets in Lindholm, Coleman, Markstrom, and Tanev. And some young pieces to build around like Mangiapane and Andersson, etc

I don't think things are all that bad.

If the lack of a new arena had even 2% to do with both players leaving, the Flames should be embarressed.

What a disaster.

Well at least this saves me buying an NHL package this year. Going to be an NFL-only winter for me.

Whatever. This guy is dust. Can’t skate. Crappy in playoffs. 80 pt player who pulled a rabbit out of his hat this season. Will never live up to a 10.5-11 mill contract. Hopefully we can parlay his huge season into a major trade package at the peak of his value. Sell high. Good riddance POS

I'm aboard team tank. Trade Markstrom and go full tilt for Bedard.

He didn't move his family from Texas. They live there in the off season. He chose the Texas of the north, where he can live mostly quietly and collect a good chunky paycheck. Coleman's fine.

Tkachuk can still screw the Flames one last time

It’s up to him where he goes now

Well, a lot of fans were calling for a rebuild last year…this allows the Flames to dismantle the team and reset it fairly quickly.

If we get (for example) 1st rounder + Kyrou + Tarasenko, I could see the Flames turning around and trading Tarasenko at the TDL.

Monahan, Coleman and Toffoli might also be assets that might be coveted at the TDL. 2023 draft might be interesting for Flames fans

I'm reminded of the early/mid 90s when we could not retain any of our star players.
This so sucks!

One of the biggest assets the Flames have no is cap room.

Let's be aggressive taking on bad contracts along with some picks.

someone should've pushed Keith down the Saddledome stairs during the playoff run right?

I appreciate his candor and that it allows the Flames to go from zero leverage to minimal leverage. I'm disappointed, but we really only want people playing for the team that want to be here so ultimately it's a good thing to get to grips with this.

Also what hashtag shall we use #boycotUSNHLplayers or something?

Nashville interests me a little bit too. Only because they were a bubble team and I don’t think tkachuk moves them up that much. Could be looking at a high 1st round pick.

We need to hear from ownership now. Murray Edwards needs to address season ticket holders. I already paid for mine.

#### this already. I want to know the team is not going anywhere and when the new arena will be built.

Might as well do full on Stockholm syndrome and get all the Swedes. We'll even change our jerseys from Red to Yellow.

I can’t help but wonder how things would have played out had Burkie stuck around? With Chucky, Johnny and even Bennett
