Henrique I don't think has much value, McTavish I like & the 1st obviously has more value from ANA than others... so much so I doubt they'd include it in a deal unless it's lottery protected, then pass
Buffalo: Jack Quinn, Josh Bloom, Kyle Okposo, 1st round pick.
Big pile of meh to me, again other than the 1st which could be a lottery one... I don't see why the Sabres would even be interested though, their window's too far away
Ottawa: Josh Norris, Lassi Thomson, 1st round pick
I really hope Brad's all over Ottawa in trade talks. They just signed Norris to a big extension so he may not be on the table, but I'd take Batherson or Stuetzle & a 1st
Islanders: Noah Dobson, Brock Nelson, 1st round pick
Don't hate this but don't love it. So probably something similar to what we'll see.
Detroit: Lucas Raymond, Jakub Vrana, 1st round pick
I don't think Detroit parts with Raymond after his rookie season results
Seattle: Shane Wright, Jared McCann, 1st round pick
Basically an equivalent to the deal we could have done with Jersey at the draft if the rumors are true. I'd take this and run still
New Jersey: Dawson Mercer, Ryan Graves, Thomas Tatar, 1st round pick (Grave+Tatar for cap)
Another one I don't love, don't hate, so probably fine
St. Louis: Neighbors, Kyrou, Tarasenko, 1st (Neighbors+Kyrou to make up for the lower quality prospect)
I think we'd only be getting one of Kyrou or Tarasenko, we'd prefer Kyrou due to age & potential, they'll prefer to trade Tarasenko.
Wouldn't be a first choice for me but if it's a sign & trade then which team it is may factor in to Tkachuk being on board with it

I've never understood this concern. Aside from LTIR or trading for players with low salary/high cap it, couldn't you just vastly overpay someone on a 1 year deal if you were short of the cap floor?

The emphasis on American/NCAA players was clearly a mistake.
Canadians, Swedes, Finns, Slovaks, Swiss, Czechs, Russians, Germans, Norwegians, Danes - that’s who we should be spending our picks on.

I will make the sacrifice. The Flames can pay me $10 million to reach the floor.
You are all welcome.

Trade targets should be the best futures we can get, plus salary dumps that might be flippable at the deadline.
We’re not getting back any roster player we’ll be happy with.
Tell Lindholm and Hanifin not to bother unpacking.
Find out where Markstrom would like to be traded.
Do this properly.
Cut the costs of this team while you’re waiting for the new building.

I understand that the owners want that playoff revenue, and it makes total sense when your team is spending to the cap. But if they were to rebuild, couldn't they just offset it by spending under the cap... you know, like most rebuilding teams do?
I don't think Calgary is such a fragile market that fans won't come back once a new core of stars become established and have to get paid. I think as long as there is hope, the fans will come back. That is the big difference between now and the 1990s when there were threats of relocation. It wasn't so much that the fans didn't want to support the team, it was the fact that there was no hope at the time. There was no cap and no way of building or maintaining a competitive team for a smaller market at the time. That is not the case any more.

Batherson is another guy who has possible ties to the Hockey Canada allegations. Shouldn't be high on the list to acquire.

Well no wonder the team had such a hard damn time being consistently as good as the sum of its parts when the top players had a foot out the door the whole time. What a damn mess.

Saddledome too?
What a summer. Is this unprecedented?
It’s like the Sum of all Fears and the nuclear bomb was just detonated.

I think Columbus went through it also.

I think the Flames will try to make this more of a "hockey trade" than a pure rebuild trade.
Hischer+ or Bratt+
Kyrou+
Barzal+
Something like that is my guess.

Really interested what Lindholm thinks about all of this. He played on a line with these 2 and one is gone and the other is rumored to be gone soon. He can't sign an extension until next summer at the earliest but I wonder if this changes his plans at all.
