I guess, but that’s if we’re contending. I honestly want to see how we do this season. If we falter we are in a perfect spot to be sellers at the deadline, with Hanifin being one of those players that could get us a haul.
Based on this offseason, it’s not looking good. Everyone else got better around us while we lost our top offensive winger.

This coming season going to be intriguing, we'll finally see who's the stick that stir the drinks.

I’m looking forward to seeing Tkachuk without Gaudreau, I think he’s up for the challenge and show everyone what type of player he really is and will surprise people even though we know he’s a good player already.

Next summer: Lucic, Monahan come off which is 11.6M right there from players you likely are done with.
The summer after is more interesting because you have Lindholm, Hanifin, Tanev, Zadorov, Backlund, Toffoli all ending, worth over 30M in total. Now some of those you probably want back (Lindholm, Hanifin, and perhaps Tanev/Backlund on cheaper deals).
Don't do anything this year, a season which you are not going to win the cup, that undermines that optionality going forward.

I agree with this, but would like to see some big kicks to go along with it. There are a few teams which are just horrible at developing prospects (I'm looking at you NYI) and I wonder if picking up a disgraced first rounder or two, and letting them learn in a superior system would pay dividends in the following year or two.
To use the NYI example, they haven't completely destroyed RW Simon Holmstrom yet. 2019 23rd overall. If they are dead set on having 5 or 6 tweeners bouncing back and forth from Cal-Stockton (all of the UFA signings thus far), why not make it interesting?

Everyone should have learned by now that what players/GMs/agents/coaches say doesn't mean squat.

If Boston decides to bring the band back together(Bergeron, Krejci), they might need to clear some cap space. I think the Flames might make a deal for Taylor Hall, perhaps around Dube and futures maybe a 2nd?

True, but what is his motivation for moving? He obviously loves Chicago. He has two SC rings. Why is he uprooting his life right now when he can do it on his own time in a year?

Its not the worst idea, but Taylor Hall looks terrible now.

I’ll admit I didn’t get to watch Boston a whole lot this year, but he still has 60pts, decent analytics, and a $6M cap hit. I don’t expect him to be a ppg player or anything, but I think he would constantly pitch in offensively. I just don’t see us getting a bigger fish than that without our 2023 1st being in play.

Klingberg is the one player I could see providing a big offensive boost next year, and still live up to his contract for at least 4-5 years, maybe more. He’s the sort of offensive talent the team hasn’t had on the blue line since Phaneuf.
For reference:
Dion w/Calgary: 0.60 PPG
Gio w/Calgary: 0.53 PPG
Klingberg w/Dallas: 0.68 PPG
Kadri will be 32 years old when camp starts, and Much as I beat the Center drum around here, I don’t think it’s smart to give 32-year old forwards 7 years.

If Taylor Hall looks terrible, then I think the Flames need more terrible players

Just excavate Calgary from the earth and airlift it with 50 million choppers and drop it on top of Carney's Point NJ.
That'll show him.
