Would love to get in on Chychrun while the yotes would be selling low.
Hell what about a Hanifin-Chychrun hockey trade?

Why are the Yotes selling low? They've passed on other chances to trade him including at the deadline. They want a high price. They want futures.

Lindholm is better than Schiefele, and is a true #1 center

i don't think flames ever want to trade Tkachuk unless they don't have a choice, he's just getting started and hit 100points he's a highly skilled player, he should be the team captain

Chucky - Lindholm - Meier

What if chucky didn't want to sign and we traded him to sanjose for Eklund and Meier? To much to ask for?

Am I missing something? I don’t think Chychrun is THAT much better than Hanifin for us to make that swap.

I don’t think there is much distance between Lindholm and Scheifele… if Scheifele is a true #1 then so is Lindholm.

Skills wise they are pretty similar, but character wise, I'd rather keep Lindholm.

Lindholm > Scheifele. One is a Selke runner-up.

Go after all of Miller, Klingberg, Kessel, P.Kane....there's no point in settling.
Tre needs to turn over every rock and make an exhaustive search .
Other crazy ideas would be getting Brady Tkachuk here.
We need speed, size and skill.
I hate it but I know we'll likely pick up a declining vet....this has always been the way it seems for the Flames.....but here's hoping they try something, anything.
Lastly. If all else fails we graduate guys earlier from our farm. Throw them in the deep end and say sink or swim. I know that's unkind and we've lost players in the past but risks are risks . You take em or you don't.
When we bring in the vets it doesn't always work....in fact it hardly ever works out well.

Younger, higher ceiling imo, can retain for longer (2 years left for Hanifin).

Lock up Phillips for 4 or 5 years at a nice low cap, and plunk him down on the top line RW. Maybe it's not Gaudreau that was the reason that line worked, all it really needs is a little guy to confuse and confound the opposition.

Move the team to Gaudreau's hometown to get back at him.

I'm of the mind that the team should really think about maintaining cap flexibility for next summer and the summer after. A bunch of contracts will start to peel off...whatever you do keep that flexibility in place so you can do a larger re-shape in those two summers.
Next summer: Lucic, Monahan come off which is 11.6M right there from players you likely are done with.
The summer after is more interesting because you have Lindholm, Hanifin, Tanev, Zadorov, Backlund, Toffoli all ending, worth over 30M in total. Now some of those you probably want back (Lindholm, Hanifin, and perhaps Tanev/Backlund on cheaper deals).
Don't do anything this year, a season which you are not going to win the cup, that undermines that optionality going forward.
