Read it again: he nearly had to miss a year. He signed right before the deadline that would have prevented him from playing that season.

Columbus is less than a 2 hour flight, true, but add in getting to and from the airport, getting on the plane, etc, and you've wasted half a day. And you live in Columbus.
EDIT: and as was noted above, you don't get to fly whenever you want. You fly when there's a flight. Inconvenient for a little visit. Wanting family during the baby's first years maybe means she'd like her mom over every day or so.

Gaudreau is rich. A private charter from Columbus to Philly is a lot more convenient than a charter from Calgary to Philly. No Customs. Less than half the flight time.
And unlike public air travel you can leave whenever you want. No arriving 2 hours before the flight. etc etc.
Its not super close proximity like NJ/Philly, but it is fair to say visiting back and forth between Columbus and home would be much more manageable for Mr. Hockey than if he stayed in Canada.

There is only one Mr Hockey and Johnny is not it, with all due respect.

TDA became a Trump voter because he was loud-mouthed bigot, not the other way around. TDA's always been a jerk, and I'm sure there are many in the pro sports world, most, unlike TDA, have the common sense to stay off social media or they hire a good publicist who keeps them off social media.

The writer led off with the Trump vote and a bunch of name-calling, and moreover, used the Trump vote as proof that DeAngelo is a ‘right-wing extremist’. By that definition, nearly half the voters in the U.S. are right-wing extremists, which is nonsense by definition.
Sorry, the article reads like a poorly written and unreasoned hit job right from the opening paragraph. As I say, you can argue against DeAngelo all you want, but that's a foolish place to go looking for evidence.

Indiana might actually be worse, and that's saying a lot. When I took the bus into Chicago from Toronto, it was quite the shock driving through Indiana.

That's because the bus had to go through Gary, which I believe was personally designed by Satan in case Hell filled up.

There’s a respect component to these deals. Guys need to feel wanted.
A team like Columbus offers you 7x$12M, you have to look at it. That team WANTS you.
Meanwhile, the team that drafted you, that you’ve played your entire career with, won’t even offer you Mitch Marner money.
Stars don’t take discounts. Nor should they.
Flames lost him because they were being cheap. 8x11.5 and he’d be here.

I would point more to his physical altercation with his goaltender and that the Rangers wanted nothing to do with him as evidence of his ######baggery.

Yes yes Jay of course. Up yours woke moralists we’ll see who cancels who and all that good stuff.
Anyway this deal has got to be a leaked ploy to drive up the price. I believe Columbus offered it but I can’t imagine anyone choosing to go to ohio for any reason.

No one is hiring a private jet every other day for their MIL. No matter how rich they are. And you still add travel time to and from the terminal. You are still taking 6 hours to get to Columbus and back.

No I wouldn’t - I’ve been saying for six months that if you get him for under $11, consider yourself lucky, because Panarin got $11.6M and their production is basically identical.
