Immediate firing of the agent LOL.
Yeah that would only happen if he fires Lewis Gross and then divorces Meredith while pregant with their first child.

Maybe there's enough support there for a rebuild that the organization would actually do it.
No guarantee that works but this feels like the best time if ever.
Remember when 7 years of no playoffs felt like an eternity? Times were also different then...small-market Canadian teams felt destined to be perpetual basement dwellers.

Most season ticket holders acknowledge that things are cyclical and there will be down years lumped together and are okay with it. As much as it can start to suck going to (approaching) 45 games a year when the team is no good.

...at least they'll probably feel compelled to bring back those Q&A lunches or evenings where they give us all free beer lol.

Flames aren't the first team to lose a UFA and won't be the last

I mean if there is a swing of ~$25MM, even Meredith might be willing to sacrifice a bit.

Side note, but does any know a good seamstress to modify my Gaudreau jersey?

Otherwise it's going to feel super awkward wearing this jersey next year haha

Stuff like this annoys me even if it’s meant as a joke.

How dare Gaudreau and his family decide they want to be closer to home.

Blaming it on his wife or mom as has happened today is childish and uncalled for.

I think this is one of those situations that people completely understand both sides of the story, and there’s just generally no hard feelings. It’s a bit of a feel good bad news story haha

I'm guessing he's playing Flyers / Isles / Devils off each other to try to maximize the contract. There's no real rush for him to sign the first deal offered to him.

North Star Jerseys off Glenmore has good cresting and tailoring services

I think the Devils have the best deal on the table but his heart is set on the Flyers.

But Flyers need to clear cap to be able to fit his ask in.

What really stings is that in an instant we went from a team with all the pieces to compete for a Cup over the next few years including a world class coach, to serious consideration of a full rebuild.

That does not seem to happen to other teams who lose major UFA's does it? Maybe a set-back resulting in a re-tool but not a total tear-down?

Yesterday has to be among the top 5 worst days in the history of the franchise.

1. Losing Cup Final 2004
2. Losing Cup Final 1986
3. Jarome leaving in 2013
4. Gilmour Trade?
5. Johnny leaving?

Debatable, but you are probably right. Important to remember he's turning 30. He played his best years already and they were with the Flames. We may have actually dodged a bullet as $11MM @ age 34+ is going to be yikes for anyone.

I would begrudgingly accept JVR in exchange for Philly's 1st round pick. Philly doesn't want to move their first to dump JVR, but if they have to, I wouldn't hate the Flames to make that deal for the year.

Johnny should have went with #wearegoldstars instead of Jerry Maguire.

NYI - I think it was a blessing in disguise when Tavares left at least temporarily, when Barzal got more ice, etc. Unfortunately there isn't something similar here.

Columbus lost Panarin. What did they do? They sorta rebuilt by moving stuff around but it wasn't a teardown - they acquired Laine, Roslovic and a bunch of other middling guys. No one really cared because they sucked anyway.

Fan 960 mentioning that Flyers might be out of the Gaudreau sweepstakes. Between Isles and Devils apparently.
