I wouldn't be surprised if Johnny is still wrestling with the decision and is trying to reason/rationalize with his wife the pros and cons of coming back.
I know when my company I moved to Regina for gave me everything I asked for in negotiations, I wrestled with the pros and cons for weeks before accepting. And then even after accepting, wrestled further with rescinding.
I did this at his age too, so I understand the emotional maturity he has now, and likely is dealing with.

I'd be interested to see how season ticket holders feel about doing a rebuild.
This organization hasn't believed in rebuilds because they want to sell tickets and believe trying to be competitive all the time is the way to do that.
Petition might not be needed, but a survey of STH perspectives would be worthwhile.
Maybe there's enough support there for a rebuild that the organization would actually do it.
No guarantee that works but this feels like the best time if ever.

Zero chance of this. Deal's likely done. No hurry to announce.

I'm slightly surprised that something wasn't ready to go with whoever he ends up signing with when the window opened. Perhaps there needs to be cap moved out and the team want to do that before this is out there so they aren't held to ransom.

Honestly I bet Gross is basically drumming up a bidding war for Johnny between NYI/Philly/NJD, likely the only reason something hasn't been announced yet. Wouldn't read into that in any other way.

don't do this to yourself. He's gone. Just a matter of when they're officially announcing it.

The Flames better ice a number 13 this season. No giving respect and keeping it off the roster. Move on.

I think these kinds of moves might be more commonplace with the AHL team being in Calgary next season. You can move these guys up and down with very little difficulty.

Instead of being the face of the franchise, the lasting image of Johnny was him bailing out on McDavid‘a winning goal

IMO the Islanders, Devils and Flyers suck.
Flames had a much better opportunity to win a Cup than those clubs so I think he's trading a shot at a Championship for the convenience of having family nearby.
If the reports are true that he liked Calgary, then it's surprising to me that he left. He could have stayed, made maximum dollars and be set for life, and have a decent shot at a Cup. He could then move back home when his kid is just about to start school. NHL careers are short, so I'm surprised he is (IMO) forgoing a chance at a Cup.
With the amount of money he'd be making, he could fly Jane and MIL over on alternating weeks.
I have kids and having grandparents nearby is a huge bonus.

Wouldn't it be something if Johnny didn't like any of the deals presented to him then ends up signing with the Flames for 7x10.5 instead of 8x10.5.
Immediate firing of the agent LOL.

Well it must be an interesting morning in the Flames offices.
Do we look like idiots to the rest of the league?
Surprisingly my friends in other NHL cities have been quite understanding in their messages.

Let’s not be too torn up about this…I love Johnny as much as the next guy but he isn’t the player you win a championship with as your lead horse. Especially at $11M

Clearly you don't have greaser fan friends. Those dinks have been relentless at me all morning. Blocked a few as a result.
