I think Valimaki can replace Zadorov. Valimaki has a little bit better hockey IQ, but slower than Zadorov. I hope Daryl told Valimaki and Toffoli to get faster if they want to increase their roles.

Was hoping he would have re-signed for a year now that we know Gaudreau is gone, just because I think that the Flames may end up deciding to rebuild, and he could return a decent pick at the deadline.


Other than that, I won't really miss him. I think he was overpaid for what he brought, and he is looking for a raise on top of it - he is still a third pairing defencemen. I sure hope that the Flames are finished with paying too much for bottom pairing defencemen or 4th line forwards.

I liked Zadorov, but I don't think paying that sort of money is worth it for one of your bottom pairing guys. I'd rather see Valimaki or Mackey in that spot and use the money saved elsewhere.

Would have loved to see a heathy Zadorov against the Oilers, a couple of big hits could have changed that series.

Doesn't matter a Mackey has surpassed Valimaki on the Flames depth chart. If there's an opening on the blueline it will be his to lose.
