no kidding, I guess everyone expected Brad to sell of 2/3 of the best line in hockey on a division leader at the trade deadline just to avoid losing them for nothing in free agency? Are you guys serious? We all would have mutinied and burned the Saddledome down if that happened. Laughable.
The team was somewhat the victim of their own success this year, you had to go all in and just see what you had. The culmination of the rebuild. If Flames had been out of the playoffs JG would have been dealt but that wasn't how the season shook out. You play the cards you're dealt. I was personally more happy with a playoff run (by flames standards) then, what, getting Mark Cundari and first round pick that turns into Morgan Klimchuk? Cmon

He’ll be “real close on trying to do something competently at some point” before ultimately falling to his own mediocrity.

Ah, the optimistic take that a rebuild is inevitable. I'm over here thinking they'll remain a 15th-25th team forever more.

I would guess Johnny and Meredith's pregnancy changed things, because suddenly being close to both their parents is a lot more important.

I just hope we don't sign any UFAs to dumb contracts. Take the next year or two to clear off some of the bad contracts, and reevaluate in 2024.

Ugh gutted! I'll miss his dynamism greatly, and wonder what this means for the team as a whole. Will it trigger young guns 2.0?
It would have been nice if he allowed us to get something for him.

You're not signing a player to replace John? What? Yes, that's exactly what you need to do. Unless it's rebuild time.

About as dark a day as a fan of this team as I can remember, sounds about the same for Brad.

Wrong.

Brad said they aren’t gonna make a rush signing to replace Johnny. Good

Treliving is in an unenviable position right now. No idea what he and ownership do from here, but if nothing else it will be interesting to see what they decide to do.

Literally no one is saying there won't be a big drop off in the team's performance next year. There obviously will.
