Yep.
Definitely a blow.
I have tons of respect for Johnny as a hockey player, but as a Flames fan he's dead to me.

Why does everyone assume he knew what his decision would be a week ago? It seems perfectly reasonable that this was an unfathomable difficult decision which took all of this time to make.
Good luck , Johnny Gaudreau. What ahell 9f a player.

At least you still care. I think it’s good to feel heartache as a fan as long as you can deal with it. None of this, I’m always happy it’s just a game stuff.

It's the nothing that chaps my arse.
Your teams biggest asset and you let it flitter away.
I'm okay with Gaudreau leaving, felt it for years it was coming. But it's still doesn't feel good.
Please, I'm begging you Flames, for the love of all that's holy, move Tkachuk or sign him longe term before you let that flitter away for nothing.

I agree with this, ^#$& him!
So frustrated by this and him screwing this team over.

This was handled perfectly by Johnny. Why would he make the team he knows he wants to go to give up assets and weaken their team?
This was and is 100% on management. They should have drawn a line in the sand at last year's draft before his NTC kicked in and if he wasn't going to commit long term then, they should have traded him.
He didn't do anything wrong, you might not like what he did, but it wasn't wrong.
Tre crapped the bed on this and you just know he's.going to make it worse tomorrow.

Now the Flames need to trade his rights to NJ or Islanders or Flyers for draft picks.
Give one of them a chance to sign an 8th year

Realistically, losing a 4th round player shouldn't be a big deal. Not being able to replace him with any of your 1st round picks is the big deal.

Yup, either he signs this summer or he is on the trading block all season until the deadline. It is unreal and the team better not mess this one up/

Surprised he waited until a few hours before to decide. If he was thinking family reasons, I thought it would have been decided awhile ago. Admirable for him to take less money on his end to be with family but he should have let the team know earlier. He didn’t owe them anything but just my opinion.

Crazy to think of the organization BT took over 2014, we had what we thought were 2 stars who the organization could build a real Stanley Cup contender around, in those 8 years he made the playoffs 5 times (?), made it past the first round twice, managed to lose Johnny for nothing and completely diminish Monahans value. We hired a real gem.

Well that was because I had faith in the man. I certainly didn't think he would string everybody along until the last day and then walk. Like I said before, the silver lining is a guy who prioritizes location over winning and his legacy is not a guy you are going to win a Cup with anyhow. Now he is just another guy who passed through town to me. The team on the front, not the name on the back. This is still a really deep team, let's see what BT does tmrw. GFG.
