I’m ok as it is his right as a UFA to pursue other options. However very disappointed how he handled this as if he felt strongly about going home he should have just been up front about it. To string the team long until 4 hours prior to UFA was ridiculous.

It might have been. I hope we find out.

Johnny never really wanted to come back

This is on Treliving. How do you negotiate with a guy without knowing he has no interest?

We now lost Brodie, Gio and Johnny for nothing

Treliving needs to go and start a proper rebuild.

Why not just do it sooner? Always been a big fan of Gaudreau. Would have been fine if he told the team after playoffs he was going elsewhere. But this leaves a bad taste

LOL, you actually think this dumb franchise will do that when they have Sutter, when they have Markstrom, Tkachuk, Lindholm, etc? They will fool themselves to think they can be competitive. This is virtually a mortal lock.

Quite the change of tune.

I have no issue with him going home. He earned that right and gave us years of entertainment and excitement. But the manner in which he’s leaving is gonna leave a sour taste for a while. Basically handcuffed the team to not be able to do anything substantial until the 2023 draft. I think this is worse than Tavares because at least tavares left a bubble team that had no real cup aspirations. Johnny is leaving a team that just won the division and was slated for a conference finals appearance if Markstrom had played like himself.

It’s a bitch move to do that to a team and a town that only ever treated you and your family like royalty.
Meh, he probably didn't have his mind made up at the exit interview. I doubt he dragged it out to be a prick. Plus, for all we know, maybe he told Treliving several times that he was going to test the market and Treliving refused to accept it or let the media know.

It really shouldn't be up to the player to announce anything publicly.

Not surprised. I was at Orange Julius yesterday, and it sounds like he really wants to play in Europe or the KHL.

I hope you will grow up a bit and learn from this whole thing. The posters you ridiculed and belittled over the years for stating this may happen and low and behold they were right and you were wrong.

Johnny didn't use the NCAA loophole and he gave us years of enjoyment, the guy wants to play closer to his family.

I wish him nothing but the best!!!

Johnny Walker.

Testing free agency and informing a team you will not sign with them are two different things and he could've spoken up last week before the draft. Say what you will but it was absolutely a dick move.

You don’t have to rub it man… Anything other than a rebuild would be just denying the reality.

I doubt Gaudreau will have to worry about Calgary winning the cup while he's still in the league
