That doesn't really track, because he was not worth close to $9.5 m coming off of his last two years, and no guarantee at all that he would be worth more.

We're in the End Game now.

I dunno...a part of me thinks its already done and they either dont care to let us know or they're just messing with us.

Either way, my voodoo doll of Gaudreau's Agent has seen better days.

This is such hyperbolic nonsense.

As I have pointed out earlier, the loss of Gaudreau would most likely result in at worst a 50% loss in his production, which would in turn make the Flames a middle-of-the-pack offense, and probably a top three Division playoff team.

If you truly believe he wasn't "worth close to $9.5 m" twelve months ago, why would you go to $11 m now? He has played over 600 games for the organization, 8 full seasons, practices, meetings etc. Surely the organization knew what they had in him.

Do you think the market now over values him because of his great season, or that his previous value was too low?

Hopefully they've already reached an agreement and are just chilling and enjoying some peace before the news gets out. It's truly down to the wire otherwise.

When do we lose the opportunity to offer that extra year?

I’m guessing that I’m going to regret starting in on the scotch this early in the game, but that’s a problem for future me.

There's a tweet out there from someone who accurately reported the Hamilton signing last year, saying that Gaudreau has already agreed to a $10.2M X 7 year deal with New Jersey. With the tweet being so specific, I wonder if it can be used as evidence of tampering.

Maybe not. I think there is a very real possibility none of those rumoured teams offer him what he wants if he got to free agency...which he won't.
