You got it all wrong. The rich take the glass, add some ice cubes and top it up with scotch. Problem solved.

I'm always curious with these types of wishes for humanity. Are you okay with this if it ended up being you, your family or people you know, or is it contingent on it being "others" because you still want to be part of this beautiful miracle that we enjoy? And how do you feel morally if you're only okay with it being others but don't want it if it's you and those you know?

Not trying to go deep or anything as this is just a fun thought exersize, it just always jumps out at me that these types of proclamations whether intended or not always have an undertone of it being "them". Unfortunately others/they will have to be sacrificed. Even in your post your feeling is that "we" march on in a better manner. "so by the time we're back to planet affecting numbers hopefully we're smarter about it".

You still feely the same if "we" is minus you and your loved ones? Like you'd want that for the better of a species that you're no longer a part of?

It would probably be better to be part of the group that's wiped out, because life would suck for many generations for the survivors

Yeah, I don't personally want any part of a post Apocalyptic world, or even one with major unrest to the point of fighting and killing to survive.

I'd take comfort in the fact that those left here could hopefully rebuild to something beautiful again. Really makes you stop and realize how we take the amazing lives we live now for granted. It truly is amazing what we have here.

The climate change guys probably would have more traction if they didn't tell us we'd all be dead or dying 12 years ago.

I don’t think that type of hyperbole is helpful. I don’t recall any, not even the wildest proclamations saying we’d all be dead or dying right about now.

Depends what you're talking about.

What level are we talking? Like 5% left or a few households per city?

5% would be annoying because there’d be no services yet there’d still be enough people to raid and get all anarchist.

If it was a few households, I’d head east, swapping vehicles and siphoning gas in deserted towns along the way. Accumulating a few useful items and food here and there from homes or grocery stores. Once in Pennsylvania I’d get a semi truck and take it to the nearest solar farm or solar panel factory. Next I’d take solar panels to Hershey. Once my new solar farm was providing enough power and I had learned in my evenings how the factory worked I’d head to the end of the production line waiting for my Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.

Been a while since I’ve seen a climate change denier admit it publicly.

Yeesh, I know there have been some optimists in this thread, but this takes the cake.

An Inconvenient Truth. Seriously, how old are you guys? Ok, here's the deal... there was this vice-president of the United States, see... and when he left office he inherited the gas guzzlinglist plane ever built, so he flew around and made a documentary on climate change that won the Oscar for Best Doc, and the VP a Nobel prize and a whole bunch of money. During the doc, he made little graphics showing what part of the world, particularly North America, would be under water, and when.

Y'all so serious all the time.

Does Cecil have the CP bucks to label someone and have it stick?

These "but... Al Gore" arguments are bull#### non-arguments that typically appear on right-wing disinfo blogs.

Gore is not a climate scientist, and he is certainly not any kind of authority on the matter.

For the record though, I don't recall him saying anything about parts of North America being under water "within 12 years". That idea is, at best, a brutal misinterpretation of what was actually said in the documentary, and at worst, just made up bull#### and a desperate attempt to try and discredit climate science.

Jesus Christ, I don't watch the same crazy news channels as you guys, I just watch a #### tonne of movies and remember this one from 15 years ago. Now I'm a climate denier and a disinfo nut? #### you Al Gore, for existing in my filmic brain. I read the title of this thread and thought that it would be funny things in here, but instead it's full of angry people. I'll back myself out. Have at it.

Awwww that's cute. Really is. And where exactly did you find out about this "gas guzzlingist guzzler plane"? In a movie too?

A virus existed that killed off the elderly and sick. Essentially the evolutionary “weakest” and the worst just refused to let that happen in any meaningful way. It’s just not who we are as a species anymore.
