I guess Murray had the Cup but imagine gambling on him?

All I'm asking for is who you'd delete off the list I provided. Nobody has taken that challenge...it's just more 'easily top-10'. Or 'he's the youngest'.
I'd just like to see Tkachuk repeat this level of performance before I anoint him...though I'm still not sure who he'll be able to bump out of that 10.

Your Huberdeau stat is wrong, but it doesn’t really matter at this point.
I take Connor, Marchand, and Stone off easy. Bump Kaprizov. Pasta is debatable but I bump him as well. And you could make an argument against Marner being ahead.
These convos are always funny though. “Nobody has taken on the challenge…” “It’s not an insult to say…” man, this is not serious business. But just throwing out one stat line as your entire argument about what “Dom from the Athletic” thinks is kind of corny. You have to give a little more juice than that for people to care to “rise to the challenge” of it.
Kaprizov didn’t have to repeat this level of performance before you “anointed” him, right? Just thinking maybe you want to think a little deeper than one stat line which “favours” the Flames (even though that’s nonsense since every team was in the same situation).

I don't know what you're talking about with Huberdeau?
Kaprizov did repeat his performance...he was better than Tkachuk last year, and he was better again this year...more importantly KK scored 7 goals in 6 playoff games this year. And he's only 8 months older than Tkachuk (because age matters apparently?) And his linemates for all of that have been Zuccarello/Hartman/Rask.
It's not serious business. I just enjoy discussions about ranking players. People say he's top 10. I give 10-13 names that have strong(er) cases and am curious to hear some more compelling arguments than his age...
And it's not that the timeframe favours the Flames per se - it just includes their 2 good years out of the last 4. Their numbers would look worse over 2, 3, or 5 years - probably true of a few other guys on the list, but definitely true for the Flames...

The market for available goalies has really shrunk this week. I will laugh if the Oil are stuck with Smitty again as their #1.

If the rumors of Campbell looking for 6 million are true, that would be such an overpay.

We can probably take a moment and thank Treliving for robbing them of Markstrom. Since losing Talbot and then the Markstrom sweepstakes they’ve struggled immensely to fill that important position with a competent person.

Tarasenko, 2023 1st and some sort of prospect package around Zack Bolduc +.
|
So I year of Tarasenko, a late 1st, an a meh prospect for a young 100+ point local boy still not in his prime. BT would be run out of town instantly. Any Blues deal starts with Kyrou.

I don’t like the Blues as a trading partner. If Chucky goes I would rather it be for a high end piece than a collection of prospects picked in the back of the first or second round 1-3 drafts ago.

Toronto should have held onto Mrazek. Short sited. I think he’s a decent goalie.
Now Toronto has to choose a long term contract with Campbell, trading for Matt Murray, handing the net to Rittich?
Good time to be a free agent goalie.

Thomas is definitely looking like a great piece but I feel like they would try and move anyone over him. If it was him + 23 1st + top prospect I would think there is a deal to be made there but I think the Blues would have a hard time giving up Thomas

if it had to be done then i would do the trade you outline but agree on the Blues not wanting to give Thomas up though.

Tarasenko is a team guy, and at 31 years of age when this contract ends will probably sign another at the same hit on a four year term (guessing). He is such a team guy that he put up ridiculous numbers for a team that he has an active trade request with, that screwed up his shoulder surgery and cost him a year of playing time. He is a legit top line right wing anywhere in the league.
Bolduc put up 99 points, good for 8th in the Q. He probably plays one more year there as an overager, but is trending to have a downside of a second line two way centre.
1st in what is rumoured to be a deep draft. Add another prospect like Neighbors and that's a good return that keeps the team competitive.
If Tkachuk goes to the QO and not an extension, we might as well start thinking of him as a rental. So, his trade value is at an absolute peak right now. If he signs, this is all meaningless drivel anyway.
