Can’t see a team offering a top 2 pick for a near 30 year old player. I think that pick is in play for a sub 25 year old but not a guy drafted 11 years ago. I suppose if the Canucks tossed in their 1st and the Devils sent back Zacha it could work?

Dubois scored more goals this year than Kakko has scored in his 3 years in the league

Change your handle to the_only_malkin_fan then. You might be on an island (current version of Malkin, that is).

Idk, even in a year where Malkin played half a season, he still had over a ppg. For the right price maybe…..

Kakko has definitely not turned out how people expected... Yet... I'm just not high on PLD and do feel that Kakko at 21 still might be able to turn things around.

Kakko is heading toward the Puljujarvi category of former high picks who might just need a change of scenery, but who probably won't return enough value for them to be traded.

Here the Kings could also be looking at Forsberg.
I hate to say it but LA could be a landing spot for Gaudreau.

If Johnny stays out west but doesn't sign with the Flames that'll be a pretty big slap in the face to be honest. Especially in our division.
I really can't see him doing that.

Not being negative but this is gonna be a real hard offseason for Calgary. Real hard.
I'm fascinated and excited and worried when we watch it all unfold.

According to CapFriendly, the Kings now have a touch under $12 million in cap space with seven roster spots to fill. They'll have no problem doing that, but they can't be adding any more players at $8m to $10m a pop.

I doubt it with the acquisition of Fiala.

I'm mostly worried that they do the same thing with Tkachuk that they did with Gaudreau this year. IMO they can't go into the season without Tkachuk extended. Ideally they'd know whether they can extend him now so that they can trade him before the draft if he won't extend. I can't handle the uncertainty and won't be happy not having answers regarding Tkachuk if I have to wait until next offseason

Eklund with some Flames player “rumors”
Pittsburgh considering Mangiapane offer sheet
Philly trying to move JVR to Seattle or Arizona so they can sign Johnny

An offer sheet to Mangiapane wouldn't be the worst thing. He'd probably get offered in the range of the 1st and 3rd compensation category ($4,201,489 - $6,302,230). Unfortunately, Pittsburgh doesn't have a third for next year at the moment.

And that could be a valuable first with that team up in the air. It wouldn’t surprise me if it was a top ten pick.

And I am pretty sure that the picks have to be their own picks, so they would have to reacquire their 3rd from whomever has it.
I wouldn't be surprised if Mangiapane does get an offer sheet from someone, especially if we re-sign Gaudreau and Tkachuk because we just won't have the cap space to match. I doubt it will be from Pittsburgh though.

I am not huge on trading Mangiapane for a worse return that the team paid for Toffoli.
I also think if the Flames keep Johnny and Tkachuk they should move on from Mangiapane simply because they can’t afford him however if they can’t keep Chucky then keeping Mangiapane becomes key.
If Ottawa wants to pay the 7th pick then we can talk but am offer sheet from a team that likely picks in the 20’s is not ideal.
