Anecdotally, I know of a few people (including me) that recently had a virus, and have a lingering post-viral cough. It seems common, can last up to 8 weeks, and there does not seem to be much you can do about it.

But, see the doctor if you can.

I had a persistent cough after I had covid. Went away after several weeks. But was quite annoying while going on. Coughing up crap all the time is annoying enough but I felt like I was getting looks every time I coughed in public.

That’s unlikely to be born out in statistics.

The lack of really good squeaky cheese curds (outside of Quebec) grinds my poutine gears.

The posted speed limit is an ambiguous marker. The average speed of the majority of traffic is the metric that counts. Driving 15 slower is way more challenging lane changes than weaving through at 15 faster. It’s why strugglers struggle.

When I get a chest cold it typically sticks around for 4-6 weeks. I’ve gone to doctors about it and they just shrug and say some people are prone to bronchial infections.

How can the posted speed be ambiguous? It says it on the sign. It’s… posted… there’s nothing really ambiguous about it.

There are also situations like driving 45 in a school zone or 65 on a small residential street that are far, far, far more dangerous than doing 15/35 (plus the either of the former just makes you an #######).

Ambiguous is not the right word - the posted limit is the law but it’s not the rule being followed by the majority, most go at least 10 kph over so 15 under puts you at only 5 under or even at the posted limit.

Irrelevant - that’s the word!

I think "arbitrary" is the word you're looking for.

That said, have variety of speeds available to drivers might cause more confusion. 120kph on the QUE might make sense. I'm not sure it would on Deerfoot, especially during rush hour. Different speeds at different times would be a nightmare.

It gets even worse when they blame their doctor's office for not being able to schedule them in on demand (don't want to cut into the time they spend making their coworkers sick, I guess)

Self-absorbed, selfish attitudes RRGMG.

It really comes down to the road design and conditions.

I guess I just disagree that 15 under is more dangerous than 15 over. Logically, probably not, and in practice there are countless instances where that is obviously wrong. As long as you act predictably, 15 under is probably safer than 15 over in almost every case.

You nailed it with "Act Predictably"

Most people going 15 under don't act predictably because if you are going under the speed limit (In normal conditions) you are most likely scared of driving, traffic, etc and not driving confidently.

Also - Driving under the speed limit in itself is not predictable.

Going 15 over (Assuming highway driving) is predictable because most people do it - Assuming they arent passing on the right which causes the most issues of anything for predictability

If somebody is passing on the right it means the guy in the left is driving too slow. The left lane guy is the ####### in that scenario. I'm tired of people victim blaming people who pass on the right - it's the guy in the left lane's fault.

But that's what I'm saying. For 15 over to be safer than 15 under, it needs to be normal conditions on the highway, that's one unique instance. You can just as easily say you're an insane person driving 45 in a school zone at pick up/drop off time with kids every and car doors opening and closing.

In general, 15 over is going to be less safe. And that's speaking as someone who can't remember the last time he drove under the speed limit in any weather condition.

Someone doing 130 dangerously passing someone doing 120 on a 100 limit road = “victim.” LOL!

Last time I had the flu, after I got better, I had a cough for six months. I went to the doctor after the first two weeks. She patted me on the head and said "Dear, you might have that cough for a year".

Buuut...you just made up that scenario.

If somebody is waffling between 90 and 115 on a 110 and not leaving the left lane - something that regularly happens between Calgary and Banff - and they don't respond to a couple flicks of the bright lights, you can pass them on the right.

Again. You just blatantly made up a situation, attributed it to me, then har harred.

You're, like, the strangest guy, dude.
