They will relocate it, no need to euthanize it.

Relocate it? Damn man...Bears are heavy! Is it going to be like they knock it out and chain it to a Park Ranger like the Stone of Triumph?

They are also apex predators that dictate the health of an ecosystem, so killing is a last resort. You don't kill them unless there are long-standing issues with getting to close to people and being aggressive with them.
If we just stopped infringing on their territory it would probably be a non-issue.

Well. Yeah. No kidding.
I cant imagine what I'd have had to cram into that post to make it even more sarcastic.

Relocate a few to Nose Hill, they can solve the off leash dog problem.

I'm not a fan of this, 'humans don't have the right to occupy a space in nature' mentality. It's the reason I'm shoulder to shoulder with like a million people in banff today because we won't build more mountain towns. We don't "infringe" enough. Animals can fata off and exist a mountain range over. Honestly, we have a pin pick of development in the mountains. It's nothing.

When you get some time we’d love a watercolour painting of the bear.

Didn’t want to face the wrath of dog lovers (responsible or irresponsible). Also, I would imagine the first time a poor Fido becomes lunch, the bears would be shot or trapped.

Brutal.
Please. Read some research or a book or two. This is an outdated take. It sounds like manifest destiny b.s. to me.
Again, all those ecosystems have been permanently changed when bears left. We did that, and we can't undo it. Least we can do is learn from it and try to prevent more of it happening.
Mountain town my ass. Who the #### cares about your recreation habits?

Bears are generally pretty chill. I don't really have a problem coexisting with them at all. Pretty happy for them to be accommodated.

Agreed. I think calling for 'Bear Genocide' seems a little harsh.

We should have a poll, mosquitoes, bears or voles. Who should go first?
