Probably his last Hail Mary to avoid the $1 billion penalty, thankfully this will be over soon.

^^^ that won't work unless the board folds - which is doubtful in this case since this offer is now at such a premium. If he wants out - its going to be tied up in lawsuits for ages as the shareholders will try to extract as much money out of him as possible.

Twitter stock under $40 now. It seems like best case scenario for Musk is to payout the $1B and walk away. The lawsuits will be endless and distracting to even someone of his wealth.

Sadly it seems that's the most important thing that defines a person these days. You aren't smart if you aren't rich and successful.

Pro tip for any billionaires - if you're going to buy something for $44 billion dollars - probably shouldn't waive "business due diligence."

I mean.... that's Business 101 isn't it? How do you get this far and think that's a good idea.

Twitter should just release that data. Though if they could identify which accounts were bots, wouldn’t they have shut them down? Also is Musk still on the hook fro $50-something per share?

At most American companies, a sexual relationship between a supervisor and a direct-report employee is grounds for dismissal, even when the relationship is consensual. In February of this year, CNN president Jef Zucker resigned after it was revealed that he had carried out an undisclosed romantic relationship with an employee described as “his key lieutenant.” In 2020, McDonalds fired CEO Steve Easterbrook — and later sued him to try to recoup his exit bonus — after his sexual relationship with an employee was made public. Most companies frown on relationships between supervisors and direct-report employees, because the professional power imbalance can never be completely disentangled from the personal relationship.

The child support payments alone could be a boon the Canadian economy.

One has already disowned him. Musk has been bleating on lately about stagnant population growth. He somehow thinks this planet can support many more people, when all evidence points to the opposite. He's actually adding to the problem.

He must be torn. For businesses to grow, population and demand must as well, but he knows this doesn't work well for the world. Must be hard to have that moral dilemma between going to mars to save us and making big $$$.

Going to Mars in our lifetime to "save us" is delusional. Like, you think the atmosphere on the Earth is messed up and we can't even make minuscule changes to save it? And yet, somehow a planet with a 95% CO2 atmosphere and a magnetic field 1/40th of Earth will be easier?

The best thing Mars has going for it is that it doesnt have any humans on it.
It is a planet populated exclusively by robots.

I seem to recall Musk had personal opinions about needing to populate the Earth as much as possible. If he put half as much energy into re-populating the Earth and trolling Twitter and crypto, he could have solved world poverty and homelessness by now.
