Forgot to mention in my earlier post how awesome Backlund was for us in this series. He clearly gives a crap and played like it. Dude is all heart. I hope he remains a Flame for the rest of his career.

I hate the narrative, no matter how true that "the better team won, we didn't deserve it anyway etc etc." Especially in the playoffs. The series could turn on a dime. If the Flames take this game the pressure shifts to Edmonton to close it out on home ice, the Flames get some life and you just never know. Every play counts.

Which is why that overturned goal will go down as one of the worst calls in recent memory.

We don't have access to the multiverse, so who knows what would have happened after, but that call could have decided the series.

It's hard to actually believe.

Any lessons they supposedly learned went out the window when they raced out to another multi-goal lead in game two. The Oilers adapted and the Flames, particularly Markstrom, were off their game for the rest of the series. Honestly, if the Oilers had played a solid game 1 the series would still be going.

I think the lesson they learned from the first round is that they can press and just continue to put pressure on, and if the opponent comes out of their zone then Markstrom will clean it up.

But in this series, Markstrom lets in a softie. So the next shift, you don't press as hard to keep a puck in along the boards, you end up being tentative, you back off... pretty much the story of the series.

I honestly don't think the Oilers adapted to anything. They Flames accommodated them.

As a professional league this is a very bad look considering some of the voices who have commented and disagreed with the call. Problem is there are so many Oiler fanboys out there the backlash won't be large enough.

If the Leafs series ended on a call like this there would be a summit on officiating.

Refs screwed them in Game 2 on the 4-4 goal.

As sloppy as the Flames played, they won' the game tonight. Plain and simple.
They played a team that can be as comical and dysfunctional as any in the league and could fold the tent in the next two games in spectacular fashion.

How it got to 3-1 is irrelevant. Should be 3-2 going to Edmonton Saturday. Plain and simple.

League didn't let that have a chance of happening.

dude just stop...if that happened to the Oilers you would be crying. More distinct kicks have been allowed. This thread is full of evidence. At least have the balls to admit your team got a major break tonight.
