More fun Markstrom numbers.

He currently sits at -8.13 GSAA in round two. No other goalie in round two is worse than -3.95.

It’s not that he’s letting in back breaking low danger chances (also known as the Brian Elliott), he’s saved 39/40 Low Danger shots in the series which is fine.

But he’s let in 7 medium danger goals on 45 shots which is .844. That’s second worst in round 2 behind only Husso.

And he’s let in 11 goals on 35 high danger chances for a .686 which is by far the worst of any goalie still in the playoffs.

The team needs to tighten up around him but it does look like the guys are nervous a bit because every break down feels like it’s a goal against right now.

Goaltending is the one area where the Flames should have had a clear advantage coming into the series, and so far it’s been the biggest weakness

No, but the one guy who had something resembling chemistry with him is stapled to the pressbox

Just no luck. The Smith special followed by a Flames goal could have been the turning point.

Again no killer instinct.

I’m so jaded as a Flames fan. I want to believe that they can pull off a miracle but there is nothing about this franchise to suggest that it will happen. Good on the people for believing that it can be done but I unfortunately don’t share that optimism. This one cuts deep when you look at a guy like Evander Kane having success. You would think that at some point karma would punish a team that employs someone with his character. Let’s hope Colorado can save us from this nightmare.

He hasn't looked the same since that injury mid-season.

He looked like the second coming for a while before that, and Bambi on ice for much of the rest of the season.

They won a round for the third time since 1989. For the first time in 7 years.

####ing play your other goalie.

I would take the farm kid with back to back shutouts even.

Don't Brian Elliott this season into the trash.

It’s not going to happen.

Sutter is not going to go to Vladar in an elimination game.

Markstrom has to be the one to figure this out, and the team a bit too because it’s been too much from a high quality perspective as well, but he needs to steal a game to help try to push this to 7.

Yup. That’s not Sutter

And it’s a mental game. Has to be some pretty strong drug to get Markstrom out of that psychological mess

And a game 7 OT win. How exciting was that?

He missed some games with a hand injury that needed surgery when he was with MTL. Perhaps re aggravated or something, if not he really damn sucks at shooting the puck right now.

He's been brutal this series. That being said, not many Flames have been good and Markstrom has been the worst of them all.

Tough to pin it on one Player.

Backlund has been a stud though and deserves better.

He was legitimately good earlier in the year and it wasn’t Tanev carrying the pair.

IMO he was hurt in that one game and wasn’t the same since. Missed some games in there and came back a little better but still wasn’t the same.

I still don’t believe he didn’t miss a game after it looked like he was knocked out on the ice that one game after his hard spill into the boards.

It’s funny. We know Sutter. Ride or die

But you can’t dispute the fact that he has let in 4 GA vs Edm 5 games running

I’d consider changing it up.

He said if Connor gets 4 points a game, he’d say have a good next series

He was silent on if his goalie allows 4 goals a game
