Can't win if you don't get decent goaltending from Markstrom. He cost us the game tonight.

Being able to tie it up 3-3 shows that they do have the mental fortitude to come back. Need everyone to start on time.

Score in the series reflects the reality of play. The Flames have been mostly outplayed. The top players have been nowhere near good enough. Sucks that the Oilers seem like they are just going to breeze through this series after it seemed like the Flames learned something about winning in the first round. These guys are mentally fragile and get off their game too easily.

I actually appreciate the effort management and coaching has made in putting a winner together. But the Flames didn't fail hard enough to have the "privilege" in drafting a McDavid or a Mackinnon. So here we are... and we've been beaten by both. I can't watch knowing that failure is finally breeding success up north.
|
This. You can blame this or that, but the truth is that it's very hard to win in the playoffs when you don't have a true #1C or D and you can mostly only get those in the draft

Did you even watch the game? They weren't much of a factor.

He basically stated that with Tanev playing well and so much, he didn’t understand why Stone and Oliver would be out there together with less than 4 mins left in the game. Especially when he wasn’t playing much prior.

Flames just need to play their game. They held the oilers for majority of tonight.
Go Flames Go! 1 game at a time.

“They don’t care” is the most tired and sh**ty take. They care. They care too much. They are trying too hard.
This was an unfortunate game but this was not a case of “not caring”. JFC.

Guys gals. It’s a trend.
We won 9-6
We lost 5-3
We lost 4-1
We lost 5-3
We have to now win the next two games by 9-6 right? We will worry about Game 7 when we get to it.

It’s indefensible
He’s done a completely poor job this series. Took three games to decide we need a gameplan for McDavid

Johnny came to play in the series you'd expect him too, Tkachuk a total no show in his.
Not only does it line up with who's more important it's simple asset management.
And for peeps saying get rid of them both, do you really want to see a rebuild again next year???

Maybe it’ll be good timing for the 2023 draft lottery if they can tank properly this time.

Take it one game at a time. Focus on the smaller picture and win the next game. They played okay. Stupid boneheaded penalties and a horrible Markstrom clear cost us the game. Baby steps.

Full credit to Edmonton for playing well, but I'd feel a lot better if I could say the same for the Flames, even in a loss. It's like they flipped a switch from Good to Suck after game 1, or decided Chicago deep dish and a bottle of Bailey's would be their pregame meal going forward.
The Smith gaffe made watching this one worthwhile, but this series... what a letdown so far. And not just because Edmonton have won 3... it's just been garbage hockey for the most part.
I have a genuine fear Edmonton will win the next one by 5. Only positives are Markstrom rediscovering his game in the 2nd period, and the Flames rediscovering their structure. But if they don't find their swagger again by next puck drop, this is done.

That's as good a performance against McDavid you're going to get the way he's been playing. He got a powerplay point and one on the empty net which came when we pulled the goalie to play 5 on 5. At even strength the Flames did a remarkable job against 97

I'm not betting on them but like I said streaks eventually end.
