We will find out what the Flames are made of on Tuesday.
Sutter needs to adjust as thus far his "roll four lines" isn't working.

Positivity: best the Oilers looked in months. Worst the Flames looked.
Next game statistics requires regression to the mean.

Completely impossible to make a single save on those. Literally impossible.

Ruzinka in and Ritchie out would be nice.

If Flames have to collapse in front of their goalie, as they do for Vladar, it means they cant make those offensive risks that has made them such a dangerous team this year.
|
If they'll only do that for Vladar, it means that for now, they've gotta play Vladar.
Need our guys to collapse and protect the middle of the ice as a five man unit. If they do the same thing in front of Markstrom for a 3rd, or I guess 4th time (but just skate harder), it will still go more or less the same way. Doesn't matter if he's all-worldly.

Said it in the GT thread, but our D-men need to have some pride. They need to decide they deserve to be on the same ice as 97.
He’s the best player in the world, so maybe he does something outstanding and beats us once/game. Not every 2nd shift.
It’s embarrassing watching these guys get turnstiled every second shift.

He did his job tonight...Smith will say he's not rattled but his nose will grow as he says that. He's going to "try harder" to best the Flames and an over emotional Smith is a Smith the Flames want to play.

11 minutes left and takes a 5 minute penalty, yup real heroic effort.

Yes, D was bad. I think one of the reason was Sutter changed D pairings lots. So they were little messy and couldn't play well. Unless Flames score first they don't play well.

Hasn't Markstrom had a lower save percentage than the opposing goalie in 7 of 10 games so far?

Oilers last 6 goals have been odd man rushes.
Defensive awareness and more importantly confidence, should fix that pretty easily.

While disappointing, I expect Darryl to straighten them out.
The network, officials and their prick of a coach made a real show of delaying the game to let their dick of a goalie return in a gladiatorial triumph and the cheers of the mob .They were ahead 4 - 0. Why drag out the spectacle except for arrogance and show.

That was only a 5-minuter in Oiler land.

He seems best at working the board on the wings and skating north south. He just doesn't have the speed, strength, or manoeuvrability to drive play through the middle. The imbalance/lack of chemistry this causes is a huge reason why the 3rd line, which should be contributing and outscoring Edmonton's depth, is a non-factor so far. I'd love to see Ruzicka but I don't think it's happening. I'd like to see Dube moved to C in his place.

This.
And just like in that series they're on paper the better team that hasn't yet put its best foot forward.

Woody with a shot at Sutter saying his goalie didn’t play 63 games and is now in mid season form…. Said it two or three times… also said he doesn’t call out the refs in the media.

The difference in the game was:
The Flames top offensive players’ production was overwhelmed by the Oilers top players.
Not going to win a lot of games with ONE goal.
Embarrassing!
Anybody think they were going to win with 1 goal?
