He did his job tonight...Smith will say he's not rattled but his nose will grow as he says that. He's going to "try harder" to best the Flames and an over emotional Smith is a Smith the Flames want to play.

This. If the Lucic hit rattled Smith and made him pissed that's worth the penalty. Other goalie when they are pissed they tend to dialed in. Smith is the opposite, when he's pissed, he dialed out.

Stop giving up 2 on 1s and leaving him out to dry then. The way he played in the first should have gave them confidence. They didn't respond and instead played stupid.

They're not in front of Markstrom. It is what it is. This isn't a slight on Markstrom. It's about playing the chess game, damn it.
If he let in a bad leaky goal or two today, after the first two games, maybe, maybe you have a point.

The Oilers got all their goals off speed and odd man rushes tonight.

If Flames have to collapse in front of their goalie, as they do for Vladar, it means they cant make those offensive risks that has made them such a dangerous team this year.

No intensity. No willingness to do what it takes.

I think Sutter has to answer for the fact his team looks nothing close to the one that would leave it all on the ice. Which is what a Sutter team does.
I think the Star series took so much mental and physical energy, that they don't have anything left.

sure feels like the the Defense is overmatched... and not just against McDraividane either...

Defense is playing on its heels; sagging as the Oilers are attacking with speed at the blueline and then sending guys into the wake of that that sagging.

Also seems like the Flames breakout is broken...like the Oilers have downloaded it. Flames can't seem to generate anything attacking as they are scrambling in the neutral zone trying to recover from a messed up breakout.

the forwards need to help slow things down defensively so the Oilers are going more east/west when they enter the attacking zone as opposed to North/South which they are doing, seemingly, at will right now...

While Calgary was down 2-1 versus Dallas, the actual game play is not comparable at all...Calgary owned Dallas. I would not say the same about the Oilers.

Or maybe for an even better effect, God, swings the series our way and makes it even more painful for, Kane?

How many did Smith stop tonight? Markstrom's number against the Oilers paint a clear picture of a guy who can't play that team.

15 goals in three games. He isn't getting it done, period.

What are you talking about. The Stars series was probably the easiest 7 game series. Flames outshot them 50-20 every game and just kept playing their game

My thoughts exactly. If Looch actually wanted to hit him hard, Smith would be leaving the ice on a stretcher.

Bad play that deserved a penalty but 5 minutes is ridiculous. Then a makeup call on McDavid after the game was out of reach.

How so? Worst effort of the playoffs.

At least we could chalk up game 2 to some bad mistakes.

That might have been the worst the Flames looked in months.

No sugarcoating that stinker.

- Jarnkrok has always played his best career hockey on wing. A better question would be why we have him at centre.
- faceoff percentage is a red herring. It always has been.
- Ruzicka was simply outplaying every centre on this team outside of Backlund and Lindholm at one point in the season, including Monahan, Lewis, etc. Then we traded for Jarnkrok and the bottom six has been worse, since. Toffoli's best game as a Flame came with Ruzicka centering him. So what if he is a rookie? Hanifin is a 400+ game pro and looks clueless out there. Let the player's play decide their value on the ice, not their seniority.

It's not the hit physical hit. He was fine. Him holding his head was to protect from the like but got the concussion protocol.
But look what that did (and the Oilers time wasting to actually get him back in net), having to go off and come on...he gets scored on the first shot and looks terrible in doing so.

Mission accomplished by Lucic, again, Smith will be asked about the hit and orotolc and bouncing back, and just him having to answer that stuff will distract him just like the protocol did.

He's allowed to make hard saves as well. Smith made some great saves tonight.

I can't believe people are talking about Markstrom after that game. The difference in the game was three Evander Kane goals, all of which had him going in on the goalie alone after receiving a pass from the best offensive player in the world. Those plays SHOULD result in goals. The pass needs to not get through, or at least not get through cleanly so that he can make a backhand deke at the top of the crease.

Not only giving up 2 on 1, they gave up 2 on 1 to the most dangerous player on the ice.

Oh get real. If they're that mentally weak then they don't deserve to win.
